Hi,

I've got fibromyalgia that I've been in a flair for about 4 months. I recently began trying hypnotherapy for pain management. I think the theory is to connect with the pain and then move through it.

The counselor is great in that he has not promised any results, rather, explained what he hopes can happen. But I'm just at the begininning.

Has anyone done this and what were your results?

I used hypnotherapy for many things, including pain (from thumb smashing to childbirth) long before my disabling injury. I don't know about moving through the pain... that would discourage me. You can numb much pain through this therapy... and bring it down to a manageable level, imo. I think once experienced you will also be able to eliminate pain for short periods of time... but,( even if you could,) remember that it isn't good to eliminate all pain forever... pain is there for a reason (maybe even fibromyalgia pain and fatigue?)

So in short, yes...the more you know it will help, the more it will help. The mind-body connection is facinating, go with it, it can be good!

Tranquility, I'd love to hear how you make out with continued hypnotherapy and your fibro pain. If it works for you I might try it myself.

I'll certainly keep you posted! Just posted to Rick as well, introduced himself as a new member and he is a certified hypnotherapist - it's good to get alot of different perspectives!
