Hello BDPpartner: No advice or suggestions I'm afraid... just best wishes for success as you struggle to maintain whatever amount of independence you can manage...

Hi BDPPartner,
I'm in similar straits. I can hardly walk. I'm embarrassed and angry at myself and chock full of self-loathing. And in a great deal of pain. There are bidets that can be installed on your toilet. It's not the same thing, but they are more affordable and (supposedly) easier to install. I've thought of getting one, too. |

for almost no money, i maintained my ability to 'care for myself', by using a slotteted kitchen spoon to extend my reach in the bathroom. i am reluctant to discuss these things in public, but it's even worse to need someone's help with so personal a need.
also, there are relatively cheap hand rails that can be used to get up and down off the toilet, and for safetly in the shower or tub. Adult Protective Services in the Dept. of Social Services should be able to tell you who to contact to get help with that. best wishes~ Gus
