I just get put on tizanidine for muscle pain. My provider says my neck muscles are tight. I don't notice it helping, but I've gotten more depressed than usual. I wonder if this new drug could be affecting me adversely?

It does cause very dry mouth. I'm wondering about psychological effects. I'ld never heard of this drug before. Anyone have experience with it?

I don't know about that medication. Hopefully someone here on the Forums does. Sorry about your muscle pain. Hope it goes away soon.
Thanks for this!

Tizanidine Uses, Dosage, Side Effects - Drugs.com

You should definitely read this. It specifically addresses issues with balance and muscle tone. There is a link in this to the side effects profile, and there are some psychiatric related symptoms

I took tizanidine for side effects of movement disorders and I loved it as a sleep aid. I wish I could get more. Good luck.
Thanks for this!

Thanks. I had googled the drug, but this was a better article than what I had found. I was not aware of the safety aspect. Good to know. I see that depression is an unusual, but reported, adverse effect.

Thanks. I'm very interested in you finding this drug effective as a sleep aid. Trouble sleeping is a big issue with me. I think I'm going to try taking this drug just in the eve for now and see if I sleep better.

That sounds good. It used to knock me out, I took much lower doses than was printed on the bottle. Don't plan to drive or anything until you build up a tolerance (that's kind of hard to do). It helped me so much when I pulled something in my back a couple of years ago. It relaxed my back. It's one of my favorite meds of all time.

This kind of shared, first hand experience I find very valuable. I'm going to keep giving this med a chance for a good while longer. Sometimes, when folding sheets and blankets out of the clothes dryer, I get a sudden, awful back spasm where I can't even stand up straight. This med might relieve that to some extent. I'll have a bit more faith in it, having heard your experience.

Maybe they have you on a lower dose? I'm glad if I can help, but everyone has their own experience with a med. Your back problem might be helped by it. Good luck!

I don't remember what dose I used of it though. Less than on the bottle.

Yeah, mine are 2 mg tabs. Script says take 1/2 to 1 tab every 8 hrs. I've already bumped that up to 4mg doses, as the lower dose was just drying out my mouth. I find they usually initiate new drugs with really low dosages that often are too low to make a difference. You kind of have to figure that out for yourself and play with it to discover what might really work best.

I am prescribed 4mg. I love it. I usually just take half a pill during the day cuz yes it makes us drowsy, but at night we take a whole one to help us sleep. Works great!
