I try and avoid conflict as much as possible so as not to hurt anyone.
I have developed, over the years, a strategy to avoid conflict by leaving the house but lost my girlfriend through it two nights ago.
Anyone have the same issues?

Hello Donanx ~ I'm so sorry you lost your girlfriend. She's probably afraid of your anger issues and doesn't understand it.

Is this combat related? Do you know what causes it, or what it's related to? Have you been in therapy?

If you haven't had therapy, I STRONGLY suggest you ask your doctor to refer you to a good therapist. He can help you understand the underlying issue, and where all this anger comes from. It could go as far back as your childhood, if it's not combat related. Have you been told by a doctor that you DO have PTSD??

Please get into therapy -- you certainly won't regret it. And if it is PTSD, the therapist can certainly help you with that too! I wish you the very best. God bless and please take care. Hugs, Lee

HI THERE
MY PROBLEM IS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND AND SHE WAS NOT AFRAID OF ANY ISSUES TO DO WITH ANGER. WE MET ON NEW YEAR'S EVE ONLY.
I MADE EVERY EFFORT TO BE AS NORMAL AS POSSIBLE - WHEN WE FOUGHT/ARGUED, I CLIMBED IN MY CAR AND WENT AWAY TO AVOID A POSSIBLE BREAK UP AND EXPLAINED IT TO HER - SHE WAS JUST AFTER MY MONEY I SUPPOSE.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A DOCTOR THAT I HAVE PTSD.
I REALLY WISH IT WAS JUST A GIRLFRIEND ISSUE, THEN I WOULDN'T HAVE TO ASK ANYONE FOR HELP.
KIND REGARDS

It is combat related and i have fought it for a long time and just too tired to explain it anymore to people who try to find their version of the problem.

Have been in therapy a long time ago but only one session since the onset and then one again just to get meds because i didn't feel comfortable or secure in telling my story to someone who clearly at the time in our country didn't have a clue how to deal with these issues.

Thanks. You are the first person to say something that might help
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO-ONE TO TALK TO.
OUR COUNTRY DOESN'T REALLY CATER FOR THIS SORT OF THING, ONLY CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGISTS WHO GIVE YOU MEDS AND GET YOU ON YOUR WAY AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE (FROM MY EXPERIENCE)

((donax)),

I am so sorry that you havent had help for this challenge. You are right, it is hard to explain it to others, they honestly don't get it, I have been challenged with that myself.

But, there "are" people who do get it, and there has been a tremendous effort to find therapys that help those who struggle. You"can" slowly make gains and do better with the right help. I have been working on it myself with a T that understands and treats PTSD patients, reading alot, and coming here for support as well.

You need to do a search in South Africa to see if there are therapists in your area that specialize in treating/giving therapy to, PTSD patients. You have to be patient, yes, the system even here in the States is not so great, often they just hand out drugs here too. I had to look for a T myself, and it took time, but I did find one and he is very kind and listens and "gets it".

Yes, I know it can be very frustrating and anger is ever present because of the frustration, I had that too. It's not your fault, you clearly need to vent and be "heard" and helped, it is amazing how being "heard" helps so much too.

Keep looking, there should be therapy available, it is getting more an more evident how much "therapy" helps PTSD patients.

Thank you for that. I am glad you get it. I have tried to search for someone in my own province who may be able to help but to no avail.
The struggle just keeps going on but I won't give up no matter how tired I am of this s*it.
I have a daughter who is 12 yrs old and means the world to me, so I have to be there for her.
Thanks for your time; appreciated.

It's amazing that in this country, that is SUPPOSED to be so "powerful", just doesn't have a clue about PTSD. But they're sending guys into war, and these great guys are coming home with problems that this idiotic government hasn't got a clue how to fix! And they don't seem to be even trying. It just infuriates me, that they're sending trillions of dollars to countries that HATE us, but want to cut the benefits of our MILITARY and our VETERANS.

I can't imagine the anger, flashbacks, depression and everything else that you great men have to deal with on coming home. And they hand you some pills and that's about it. They tell you to "deal" with it and send you home. Ummm, I don't think so.

I wish I had some words of wisdom or knew where the best therapy was located. But, alas I don't. I just want you to know I understand and my prayers are with you. God bless and please keep us informed, will you? Take care. Hugs, Lee
