Would it be possible in the area of the "Thanks" note? Right now, when I agree with a post and have nothing to add (or am unable to at the time) I hit the "THANKS" button.

It would be kewl to have a button to merely say, "I agree" in the form of "GOOD POST" button or even a thumbs up icon button which could also mean good going.

Maybe even give credit points to those who do make good posts that are given that thumbs up? I mean, that's more important than the number of posts someone makes, imo.

I've been assuming that that's among the functions of the "Thanks" button.

If there were a credit points program I think I'd ask to opt out of it. Others are free to agree or disagree with what I post but I wouldn't like to think I was competing for points.

------- Possible digression -------

At a technically-oriented forum where I've occasionally participated, responders do get rated on how well they answer the O.P.'s question. Someone happened to post such a vague question that the only reasonable answer was, "It depends on the kind of device you have. If it's like this, you usually make the settings this way; like that, you often make them that way; if it's this other kind there's nothing to set, it either works or it doesn't." The O.P. didn't find my answer helpful and gave it a low rating. If I'd cared about ratings I'd have started taking care not to reply to questions where the questioner didn't seem to understand what they were asking.
------- / digression -------

I'd be concerned that competing for points would be like an invitation to (a.) seek out the easiest questions and (b.) tell the questioner whatever we thought they were hoping to hear.

Manda86, I like your suggestion . That's pretty much what we're already doing, though, isn't it?

Yoda, I like yours too but I foresee some serious logistical problems: (a.) who'd provide the necessary chocolate? (b.) how would it be delivered to whoever had earned it? and most important, (c.) would it be milk or bittersweet? I'd much rather go on posting for free indefinitely than find myself being bribed with the wrong kind of chocolate How about a "good post" addition....
Thanks for this!

I don't believe people giving credit points would make people feel good as all or any support is good. I don't think on a support site that we need this and anyway we have the kudos forum to express our appreciation.

And I think the 'Thanks' button more or less says, 'good post' otherwise we wouldn't say thanks would we.

Where would you stop ? Would people then be asking for a 'I disagree' button ? I think its best to keep it as it is as its nice and clear at the moment.

I don't think we should have an "I agree" as that is more taking sides rather than supporting? I think it's like spirituality versus religious content in the Spirituality Forum.

I agree with this 100%. The idea of "competing" doesn't sit well with me at all. I really appreciate the supportive nature of this site...I don't know if I would post here if it was a "competition".
