when you go to save as what does it show? can you copy the text and paste it into a word document?

if you are familiar with screen shots that would help me tremendously but if not I am willing to work with you on the issue. I am very literate when it comes to computers so be as specific as possible and I will help in any way I can

I don't think you can save someone else's Adobe file with the info in it unless they set up their software to allow that. You have to have the whole/real adobe suite (multi-hundreds of dollars) to do a lot of "fancy" stuff like that. I think you can print it though?

Are you sure you have the most up-to-date reader? (I think it's 9) If you have a much older reader and they have much more modern software/update, that might make a difference too.

My impression is that Adobe Acrobat Reader is only for reading documents, not for creating or modifying them. Acrobat Reader is distributed free to anyone who wants it in order to make Acrobat itself more useful to those who've paid for it.

I sometimes take a "screen shot" with Alt-Print Screen (which saves an image of the current window to the Clipboard), then use Photoshop (another paid product from Adobe!) to save the image as a JPG file. It's not as convenient as a PDF but it has all the info that was showing in the window.
