1. It was a long standing policy for those in power to require everyone to believe the Earth was flat too.
2. Is Sabby a moderator again?
3. Is PsychCentral a small community devoted to support for mental health and relationship issues?

I raise these points to gain enlightenment and not to be a contrarian.

From what I gather, having the original poster ask an admin or mod to remove the entire thread might be the better option. Those who responded might be less put out if the admin or mod explained the deletion was done at the request of the original poster.

Things get more complicated if a member seeks to have a post in a thread started by another member removed. I expect again a note explaining the removal of the post was at the request of the poster might help.

I understand the reason for not wanting to have to deal with removal of posts after a reasonable period of time. On the other hand, this site is frequented by those who seek support while dealing with illnesses. To say think it through and do it right the first time for some is akin to saying get over it and move on.

Nothing is so clear cut.
Thanks for this!

Please check the dates of a thread you're replying to -- this is a very old thread that someone has replied to in order to give feedback on the edit time again.

We are not changing the edit time for editing your own posts. This is a long-standing policy that is based upon our experience in online communities, and nothing's changed in that regard. You can PM any moderator or administrator to get a post edited (or, in some cases, removed altogether).

Thank you for your feedback.

I agree that removing posts could be problematic. However, I very strongly feel that you should be able to delete an entire thread that you started yourself. Awhile back I was in a very bad place and had no support system. I admitted something horrible about myself in a thread. Now I am terrified that the thread could wind up connected to me in the future. I'm just being paranoid too since not very many people irl know I use this site. But I'm still afraid and I still think I have the right to take back something that could destroy me. It is an old thread and no one has responded to it in ages. And I'm sure that no one will notice it's absence but me. I want it gone. Am I hearing that it can't be done, or will the mods delete some threads, some times???

We usually do remove a thread at the original poster's request. You could PM one of the mods about it, with a link to the thread included.

Not every mod can remove threads from every forum so whoever gets your request may have to pass it along to someone else on the team. Usually it's even faster if you go to the top post of the thread you want removed and use the Report button (I suggest being able to delete threads/posts. or I suggest being able to delete threads/posts.) at the left.
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
