Hi,
I'm trying to upload pictures to an album on my profile, but every time I try to, it says "upload failed". I can upload files from other sites on the internet, but not from my camera. Any advice?

Have you tried uploading them to your computer harddrive and then uploading to your album?

Yes I have, no go I think it's because my pictures have a very high resolution, maybe it's just too much for the system to handle or something (I'm not very good with computers )

Here's how I addressed a similar question just a few days ago. I haven't heard yet how that one turned out so let's try it again here:

Are your pictures within those specs?
You might want to try describing step by step what happens (and what fails to). For instance, I have some pics from yesterday that I want to upload so let me try it right now:
I go to the album I want to put them in and click the Upload Pictures link. I get an "Upload pictures" page with 10 text boxes and a "Browse..." button after each.

I click the first Browse button. A window opens showing files on my computer, but the folder that's shown is far from where I have those pictures. I click through the folders -- up three times to where I see my C: drive, then over to the right folder and down to (in my case) Images, MyPics, Yosemite...

I select (highlight) the pic (.jpg file) I want and click "Open". The browse window closes and I find the path and filename of the picture showing in the first text box.

I click the second Browse button. I get the browse window showing the same folder where I found the first picture, this time without having to step over to it. If my second picture were in a different folder, I'd go stepping through folders as before till I got to it.

I select the second picture and click Open. Again the browse window closes and this time I see paths and filenames in two of the text boxes.

I repeat the procedure with the third picture and this time also click the Upload Pictures button lower down on the page.

After a minute or two I get a page showing thumbnails of the three pics I just downloaded and offering me a chance to retitle them. After I click "Save Changes", the pics are in my album.
What happens differently for you?

Come to find out, some of the pics I just uploaded were bigger than the specs call for and sure enough, the messages above them say they've been automatically resized.
Thanks for this!

Thanks FZ... Hmm..when I tried to upload them one at a time to the PC gallery, not my individual photo album, it said that my upload was successful. Yet when I went back to my album in the gallery, it said the only picture in it was one I uploaded a couple weeks ago. So it said my pictures were uploaded but they weren't there when I checked.

I can't upload pictures..

This is what I see when I try to upload pictures...it's almost as if it times out (the orange bar on the bottom, that is), and then it goes to a page saying the upload failed.

The most common reason you receive an Upload Failed message is because the photo you're trying to upload is too large. This is not primarily a photo sharing site because we don't have a lot of good photo manipulation tools or massive amounts of user storage for these files (which can be quite large when you times it by 100,000 members).

Shrink the size of your photo to the dimensions or file size the system tells you is the maximum before trying to upload it here. If you don't do this, you will receive the Upload Failed error.

If you need more flexibility for photo sharing larger photos or don't have the ability to shrink images, check out any of the free photo sharing sites online, like flickr.com or Google's Picasa: http://picasaweb.google.com/home

Sounds like you have a file conversion problem that would need to be handled at your end using appropriate software. Photoshop (which I use) can read and write several picture formats such as .gif, .jpg and .pdf. Word (the old version that I'm familiar with) can incorporate pictures (.jpg at least) into a .doc file but I don't think it can spit them out again later as separate .jpg's.

One rather crude solution is to display an image with whatever software is able to open it, get a "screen shot" of it with Alt-Print Screen, open the screen shot in Photoshop, crop it down to just the picture, and save the picture as a .jpg. The resolution you get will be no better than the screen shot that you started with, but still better than nothing.

When I came here and decided to create an album, I successfully loaded five pictures with descriptions. My brain was obviously functioning at that time. Tonight I tried to add a picture to my album from my computer picture folder (using "Browse"). No luck.

But I found an area that let me load in the http address where I originally got the picture. I wrote a description, clicked on my user name as the destination, but the top box said "Member Galleries". hmmmm

Well, it took the picture, and I went to my album and it wasn't there. Where did it go? Where oh where is my lovely picture? Is it lurking in an unsuspecting users album somewhere in PC land?

Oh dear. Please help!!!
