Just because I posted 5 comments, am now labeled as a anything I dont wish to claim.

Am just a human being wanting to help others, I didn't come here to be looked as being different in any way.

Far too many labels being placed on everyone when in fact we were created Equal !

We only become much wiser because we have the need to question and seek answers to our problems and when we do, some of us wish to teach others, it's NOT because we went to school or something, it's because we desire to better ourselves in the time we have.

I do understand that some folks have difficulties with "labels".

Let me assure you that these "labels" are meant to be fun as we grow up the ladder of number of posts and time as a member. Our intent was not to insult or make anyone feel badly. I'm sorry that you are having a problem with them. I hope that after some time here, you will be able to overlook the labels and enjoy your experience at PC. We're glad you are a member and we look forward to seeing you on the forums!

Take good care!

I did not mean any disrespect towards anyone or the community by voicing my dislike for the label " Superposter", it was not my intention to do so.

I am a disabled veteran of 21+yrs of service who is now living with a pacemaker, I do know about the label and the system.

While in the service, I was an NCO in charge of 10 other troopers, good men who became more like a family then anything else.

I just feel like every time I try to help others, esp the new comers that come here, they might look upon me as some Super Hero and am not that in any form or fashion, am just another human being that needs to help those that are crying out for it.

Thank you for listening to my grievance which is not meant to sound like that.

The superposter is applied when a member posts so much within a certain period of time. There is some kind of mathematical formula (have no idea exactly what it is) that is used and when you make your posts, (so many in so many days I think) is when it gets applied to one's account. Other than that, there is no other reason for it.

oh my, Snowleopard56, this is so funny (on a personal level only hon). i'd like to share something if i may. first, i'm so sorry you are offended by the label 'superposter' and am glad personally for sabby's explanation about how this is computed here at PC.

but what's funny is, quietly, without saying anything, keeping my tad of envy and my embarrassing vanity within, i see others getting this 'tribute' by their names and personally, having posted over 300 times now, i think, i am still not a 'super poster'!!!!! and i was a tad hurt! lol i thought maybe i didn't deserve the 'honor' as i perceived it. but in the end, i think i am being vane (ms?).

i guess our perceptions are based on our personal experiences. i never felt accomplished at much of anything, and get my sensitivities banged up easily. (no offense PC!) and ohhh, to be a "Grand Poobah" someday! <sigh> visions of achieving a state of elderly wisdom NOT good but a gal can dream?

oh well, life goes on. please continue to post, and i will too of course. all kidding aside, no labels are necessary are they? just to be able to maybe, somehow, help others is good enough for me, and sounds like for you too. i understand what you are saying. i strive for humility and feel more comfortable with things staying simple with no fanfare needed at all. please take care.

i know what you mean Gus. i HATE hearing "i'm bipolar" and try my best not to say it in that way. that's not me! i HAVE bipolar disorder. when i worked in a hospital, the norm was to say "the cancer in room 12, etc.) what a horrible way to talk about a person. praise to PC for seeing us as people first and foremost, and is a place for support.

but nope, it was about that thingy they put by our names (superposter etc.) and would like to add, sabby if you read this, please don't let PC put it by my name now!

Thanks for this!

I noticed that SuperPoster label when I was still quite new here. I wondered why I was a SuperPoster with my 5 or 6 posts while others with hundreds weren't.

As far as I can tell, it depends on what the Statistics tab of your profile shows. For instance, Snowleopard56's says:
Total Posts: 13
Posts Per Day: 4.60
Everyone I've seen with more than 2.0 posts per day seems to be a SuperPoster, but nobody with 1.9 or fewer. I'm pretty sure I can guess what the magic number is!
Thanks for this!

ahhhhh, Fool Zero, you're brilliant! That makes perfect sense. I first joined in 2009 and didn't post much at all until 2010. But the newer members, like Snowleopard56, if they post (not even lots, just every day maybe?) they will average out to a higher posting ratio, thus, superposting.

Thanks!

these titles are actually quite reasonable.

But if would be nice if we could pick up our own title after we reach certain number of posts... something that would define us.

I want to thank everyone for welcoming me here at PC and in understanding what or how I feel about this.

I hope everyone who commented here and those who will read this, please understand what am going through by me telling a story here.

Recently, a Combat Photographer, had taken a photo of a soldier who was performing his duties as a Combat Medic, ( I think some will remember this story, I'll look and post a link here later ) in Iraq. The photograph had shown PFC Dryer rushing towards a medivac chopper with a child in his arms. It seems that this soldier was considered a HERO by everyone for doing his duty. He became very popular in and around the internet because of a photograph. After he was discharged from the service, he couldn't cope with the pressure of his status being a hero. He had committed suicide.

http://blog.cleveland.com/pdopinion/...seph_dwye.html

Please forgive this old soul for lack of details but I think maybe everyone might understand that NOT everyone needs ( sorry about this again ) a label to define themselves as a Human Being.

I almost hate to ask this but I'll bite, Gus, What's " Normal " ?

What am seeing lately is just the opposite regarding the current state of National affairs, esp since the Arizona shooting !

Everyone and there mother is now ARMING themselves to the teeth with guns and more guns against the mentally challenged . I refuse to believe that those whom are looked upon as "Retarded" are thought of as mentally undesirables, we are now looked as BULLS EYES in the eyes of everyone.

I've seen a sudden influx regarding Anti-Depressants commercials and the funny thing is, the side-effects of these drugs are possible Death. That is very CRAZY and WRONG !

Everyone who comes here to PC is in my opinion the SANE ONES !

I think for deeper discussion regarding labeling/titles etc. should be brought to the other forums at this time.

The OP was discussing labels as applied to PC and that's why it was posted here in this forum, so I think we're getting a little off track here.

Thanks for understanding!

Well officially "normal" is the behaviour, expectations and ideals of 63% of the population so about 1/3rd of us don't quite fit.
You go on about labels, yet now you say "in your opinion" "Everyone who comes here to PC are the SANE ONES!
Well if I was sane I would be back at work and would have put behind me my depression, paranoid ideations and anxiety issues. Defining insanity is the problem most westernized countries face. Like a moral code its very rubbery and blurred. Morals are outraged when a public figure commits adultery etc., yet if we are tempted the morality seem to be diminished because "everyone else does it".
With the AZ killings, in Iraq or 'Ghan the guy would be a hero but, turn the gun on your own, and he's the devil incarnate. A medal or a label there is little to separate them except the relative circumstances that defines the two.
I have no idea where or what the answer is and, that is why I keeping asking WHY? And will continue to do so.

Well, if you don't want to be a 'SuperPoster' then just don't post for a few days and it'll go away. Seriously though, welcome to PC Snowleopard56!

@ sabby, I am well aware of your concerns regarding this issue and I am in no way trying to change what works here within the community.

Although I do wish to ask some questions that pertain to this and other issues. Look, am trying very hard in finding a home that I feel comfortable working in, am disabled and I think I have a good understand of life and how to help others. I can't help others unless they are willing to accept the truth and be held accountable.

I know this may not be the right area for this discussion but I have views that I'd like to express and I see this as my purpose in life, I need to Teach.

I didn't go to school to become a Psychiatrist and I will not pretend to be one. In all honesty, every single individual is a Psychiatrist and no one is getting paid for it and in some ways, that's very wrong.

As I see it, an individual goes to a psychiatrist and pays to have another individual tells him or her what's wrong with them. A psychiatrist also knows how much Responsibility he or she is willing to accept while consulting his patient, there is no difference between a Psychiatrist, Doctor or another individual who helps another, they all share a common responsibility for the Health and Welfare of another Human Being !

I've come to understand that anyone who gives advice had better know first hand that he/she could very well be responsible for the life of another, Paid or Free !

Now, am not here to seek Fame,Glory or Pay for whatever am doing here, as I see it, am here doing what every Human Being is doing, Helping Others. I may not have all the answers and I could care less of being perfect which am not, That's why I feel that my venting will get others to see how I feel about other Human Beings, I CARE !

And I will put that in writing as I will accept RESPONSIBILITY for advice given to others. Am here to Teach and like that Great saying I heard some many times, " A MIND is a terrible thing to waste !

(((((((( Snowleopard ))))))))) We accept you as you are here and yes I can see you care very much but not everyone wants to be 'taught.' Some people just need compassion and understanding. I'm glad you feel strongly in wanting to help but remember everyone is at a different place in life. Some need to vent and are not ready to hear your 'truth.' Support, be there, listen, sit with people but don't 'teach.'

PS. There are no psychiatrists here, we are all one big community, supporting each other.

Take care.

Labels such as that are just a matter of survival, not wisdom! If you last long enough here you will attain that majestic title too!

LOL Salukegirl - Me too!

Welcome to the Forum Snowleopard

What I love most about PC is the respect that is shown and shared among members, regardless of their place in life - the focus being on support, which can come in many forms on different levels.

We take what we need from PC and give what we can in return - but we try out best to keep our egos out of what we offer. It's not necessary for you to take what we give. Take what you need from what we have to offer if it will help you in the real world. If not, maybe it can help someone else who may be reading.

Your contributions to this forum are just as valuable as anyone else here. If someone here chooses not to follow what you have to teach, please don't take it personally.

P.S. - I'm probably the furthest thing from a "Magnate" - more like a professional Sloth these days.
Thanks for this!
