I can't see images in a lot of threads. I can see most of the ones in the black and white photo thread... but not all... now two people have posted images to a thread of mine and they don't show. I checked my options and images are enabled.... I is confused! (not that it takes much). any ideas???????

I'm puzzled too, Omers. I looked at that one thread, and it turned out that the images you apparently couldn't see were all smilies from the usual PC collection. I'm not sure if there's a control anywhere for enabling and disabling smilies. Weirder still, when I tried disabling the "images in posts and attached images", I could still see smilies, avatars, and album pictures included in posts.

Is there any possibility that your browser or computer could be playing tricks? Do you see other images besides smilies and photos in posts? Here's a copy of the PC logo:
Can't see images in threads
Does it show up here? How about in the top left corner of the page where you're reading this?

How about this?
Can't see images in threads
It's one of the smilies you couldn't see before but I'm inserting it here as a .gif image, not by the usual insert-a-smiley route.

And by the way, even though I should still have images disabled, I do see those two at least in Preview.
Thanks for this!

Huh... could see everything but the smile but I can see some in some posts... how very weird!
But... I brought my other computer to the geek squad with issues... they looked it over... I have the official geek squad paper that says:
"after ruling out trolls due to lack of physical evidence, ie, boogers or dirt, we have come to the conclusion that the computer is demon possessed."
Needless to say I didn't have to pay for the evaluation or repairs (that weren't done) I just had to learn to live with the quirks.
So... I have that effect on computers.

When I pull up the list group hug, throb, love, holy sheep and thud don't show. They all used to...

OK then... Weird!
Wonder if I can post them.... should be head scratch then thud... hmmmm....

Your headscratch and thud both show up for me as usual (Firefox 2, Windows 98).

The Oxford English Dictionary defines resistentialism as a ''mock philosophy which maintains that inanimate objects are hostile to humans'' and calls it a ''humorous blend'' of the Latin res , thing(s), and French résister , to resist, with existentialism . The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, Fifth Edition (2002), perhaps in resistential defiance of its title, expands that definition to ''a mock philosophy maintaining that inanimate objects are hostile to humans or seek to thwart human endeavours.''
