At 7:06 P.M. tonight, Tuesday, October 11, 2011, the "Search" capability for "zero responses" was no longer available. Intentional? Non-intentional? Fixed? Not fixed? Permanent? Temporary? Reason? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Are you trying to access your search through the blue menu bar, Search > Unanswered Threads? That one just worked for me.
Or are you using Advanced Search and specifying [At most] [0] Replies? That one just worked for me too. It seems to be a different search, though, and to show results in a different format, so whatever affects one might not affect the other the same way. |

Hey, FooZe,
I'm trying to do the search from the blue menu bar. I can't accurately remember the name of the drop-down menu choice for zero responses, but whatever it's called, it's not there now. And I tried it again just now (8:19 A.M. Wednesday) and it still does not show up. Only three choices show up on the drop-down menu: Tag Search, Advanced Search and Find All Thanked Posts. I can't for the life of me figure out whether I somehow reset some of the settings that might cause this. I don't spend much time wandering through the various settings screens, so I kind of doubt it would be that. But why it would show up for some members and not for me I have no idea. Take care! ![]() Quote:

I went into Advanced Search and found out there how to search for zero response threads. It's kind of clunky compared to the drop down menu but it works. I'd still love to know what happened to my drop down menu.

Don't know what to tell you, Ygrec, sorry. That "Search" button apparently calls up a javascript routine to drop down the menu. If anything at all drops down then javascript would seem to be working for you. I haven't a clue why all of the menu items would show up for me but only some for you.
If that happened to me, the one thing I could think of trying would be clearing my cache -- just in case I'd ended up with an incomplete copy of something that my browser was holding onto and trying to use instead of replacing at the first opportunity. |

I don't know what browser you're using. in mine (Firefox) it's under Tools > Options > Privacy.
I remember some places where the cache, history and cookies are treated separately but here, Firefox seems to lump them together as "Private data". The option for clearing your private data is mostly for when you've been on a shared computer. Another result, though, should be that any page you load after that will get loaded afresh instead of from a (possibly defective) stored copy. |

Just to support Ygrec a bit, this happened to me this morning, and went on for some minutes. I wrote it down and saved it as a text file to post later, when I anticipated PC would be available again:
At about 2:15 this morning, something was wrong with PC. I could not get it to respond to clicks on My Profile, or on any of the forum links, including this one, Community Support & Technical Feedback, to leave a message about it. It would respond to a click on Log Out.

I suggest that, if technically possible, that when a backup is taking place the forums be replaced, as seen from the outside, with a simple message that a backup is taking place and to come back in a few minutes. This would prevent members being able to log on, have some functions work and others not, producing uncertainties in the minds of the users as to whether it is the system or themselves that is the problem. After all, isn't in a concern here to avoid upset to members as much as possible?
![]() If this is not technically feasible, would it be possible once one logs on to have a message warning of possible slowdowns?

We'll try moving the backups until later in the morning (e.g., around 4 am ET). We'll see if that helps.
We can't take down the forums while doing backups, although that's a good suggestion. Thanks. DocJohn
