the board and anonymous surfing?
I know the board registers your ip so i'm guessing it will plainly not work...
But since it's not my field of expertice i'm not certain of that... I could test it offcourse but then again i'm not sure that if it works it's okay with the rules...

You can change preferences to not show your name on the "who's online" page and to not show the green "online" under your name on the forum pages. Go into your profile (the link's under the search box on the top right side of the page) to make the changes.

I think that the anonymous surfers are less concerned with admin seeing their IP addresses than they are about the general membership. Wi_fighter is right that you can change your preferences to make you "invisible", but lots of times the anonymous surfers just haven't taken the time to register or log in. I have a couple of computers in my house and if I haven't closed the browser on a computer that I used to log in, it won't let me log in on another computer, so I'm anonymous sometimes, involuntarily.

I'm allready a "invisible" person but it's not this site i'm that i whould surf anonymous for it's more the rest of the internet.
If you know what kind of infomation people can get off a simple ip adress and all...
Anyway i was thinking of setting it up but i have to look into it yet... I was just wondering if i could come here or if i had to make an exception for this site....

What were you considering setting up? I am not sure I understand what you're proposing.

Okay,

I don't know when i'll do it tough...
It's very intresting since it avoids giving out a lot of information.
I just had to know i couldn't be banned if i tried it and came to the board...

thanks What is the deal with

Not sure what would happen here -- you can always try it and then change it back if it doesn't work

There are several ways to set up anonymous surfing. One is to use The Cloak.

It is somewhat clumsy, you do have to pay attention and fill in a box each time you want to shift to another url. But it can be done. Usually sites won't ban for use of that, in fact usually I think they won't even notice, which is part of the point of using it. I just gave it a try for here, no problem.

There are more complex ways to anonymously surf. Also there are paid services that look to be much easier.

The Electronic Freedom Frontier has tons of info on all sorts of issues, including anonymity.

Something to sort out is whether a person wants web sites they surf to not be able to trace their actual ip address or track them with cookies.......or if the person wants their computer to not contain trails of info on where they have surfed.

The right to be anonymous in the digital landscape is a right worth fighting for and preserving.

Tor is a project that offers an anonymous internet communication system. It is still too complex for me to use, but they are working on making it easier for everyone.

Yea i've seen the cloak before and found it intresting (parly because it is free after all What is the deal with)

You can also simply set a proxy. I've read somehwere that if you just look for proxy + anonymous + surfing you get a few...

Yea i was thinking about it took yesterday... I was like but wait a minit... since there is no ip they can't really know who it is.
Have you tried logging in while you where here? It whould be odd if it whould work in my eyes since they register your ip for security reasons on these baords (banning and the like)

Anyway thanks for the additional information What is the deal with
