So how hard is it for, I don’t know let’s say my wife’s divorce lawyer to force PC to hand over my user name. She has probably looked at my bookmarks so knows I come here. Somehow I don’t see her reading every post and trying to deduce who I am.

I can't say officially but I would believe it would be very difficult. When I was working on another forum I know the only time we handed over details of members was when requested by the police or when we needed to report criminal activity or a suicidal or homicidal member to the authorities.
So unless it is in regards to a criminal proceeding against you I don't think it would happen, but I am sure someone official here will be able to give a definite answer ![]() |

I would make sure that the box that keeps you signed in is not checked so she won't be able to see what you have posted and print it out. You may also want to clear your history anytime you use the computer.

You could PM Doc but I agree with the other poster - only a police matter would be valid to ask for that info. After you're done on the computer - go to history and erase your history. If Mike J is your real name you may want to consider changing it. Does your wife know you come on PC?

In consultation with our lawyer, we would likely comply with any legal and properly authorized subpoena that was limited in its scope.
In 17 years of running Psych Central, we have never received one. Best, DocJohn

I confess I haven't read all your posts, but all I've seen so far is a really nice guy. I agree with you it would be very difficult for her to use anything here against you. I can't imagine her divorce lawyer would have any interest either - seems like it would be a waste of his/her time.
Good luck. I hope this works out for you. |
