Can I add on to that? Why can I hug and thank some people, but not others?

This has to do with the way the website's user database is set up. The person in charge of the set or admins can configure the settings to allow this if such a setting actually exists in VBulletin (I think PC uses VBulletin). If it doesn't exist, then the user database has to be re-written to enable such a feature, as well as the necessary HTML, SQL, CSS/CSS3, javascript, etc... . In other words, if such a feature doesn't exist, then it's going to take a fair bit of work.

The only reasons I can come up with are, if you already hugged and thanked the person in a particular thread. Technically, you could keep thanking and hugging the same person's post over and over, however, the forum's settings don't allow for that to happen. The other reason is if you thanked and hugged a lot of people in a short amount of time, PC may (not sure) if it has a sort of anti-spam filter but for thanks and hugs.
Thanks for this!

I want to know when there will be a greater variety of "My Mood" choices. I don't like many of the ones that are offered.
Thanks for this!

As far as I know, the selection hasn't changed since I joined. I did resort to Photoshop once to create a mood icon of my own...
Was wondering and pondering something?
...but of course I could only use it in posts and such, not in the official "My Mood:" space.

I see hugging oneself as no different than posting to get encourage/reassurance, etc. Or when you feel accomplished, gotten over a major hurdle, etc. I think it's a neat idea.

Maybe if the Admins decide to add this idea, each member could turn "on" or "off" the choice to receive hugs...?

I have not been able to hug or thank anyone with smilies, except for maybe 1 or 2 people all night. There is some kind of glitch, bug or something. When I first posted about it not letting me hug or thank some people, I was still able to do so occasionally. Now it is not letting me do hugs or thanks at all.

I take it you're talking about the [Thanks] and [Hugs] buttons that are usually at the bottom right of every post. The button does disappear when I thank or hug someone, and normally a "Thanks for this!" or "Hugs from" line appears under the post with my username on it.

Occasionally (never recently, I don't think) the "Thanks" or "Hugs" button will disappear after I click it but the thanks or hug won't register right away. When that happens, I usually reload (or refresh) the page. That either makes the thanks or hug show up, or brings the buttons back (whereupon I try again).

What happens for you, exactly?

When I click one of the two buttons, it goes to the screen that says something like I don't have access to that. The screen asks if I am signed in or trying to change someone elses account.

I just clicked on the hug button under your post. Do you feel as if you've been touched?

Actually, George, I've been asked this very question by a member on another thread.

When I read that I had been 'hugged', I did feel a sensation similar to the feeling one has while walking through a graveyard at night. Not horrifying, mind you, but just a slight flushing followed by chills crossing my skin.
I must admit the eidolon embrace was lightly bearable due to the fact that from what I have read, you and I seem to have the same political leanings, but for one issue that I have not heard mentioned in conversation. For myself, that is as good as foreplay.

Holding Steadfast To My Idiosyncrasies,

Glad you accepted it graciously I've sat and walked in some historic graveyards by night and felt something like you described but I also felt a profound sense of peace and... oneness. And some happiness that I'd be walking out.
As for hugging one's self, if it makes you feel better...

George,

I have never hugged myself. I have wrapped my arms around my body when cold, or fearful, but as for giving myself a hug in the context that it has been placed. No, never.

With all due respect,

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
