I've tried several online forums and searches, and I'm not getting any real answers to a problem I'm having with Netscape (version 8.1). Here's what's happening: On some sites, like ezboard, if I post a new message or a reply, anything I type into the subject field, or that is automatically placed there (like, when you reply, it automatically sticks "Re: (subject)" in there), disappears as soon as the page completes downloading. I have to type something in there for it to post, or I get an error, so it can get a bit annoying having to do that every time. This isn't happening with Internet Explorer, but I like Netscape, so I don't want to switch (and I don't want to switch to Firefox, which I already have, either), so please don't suggest that. I'd really like to find a solution to this. I've tried clearing the cache and cookies, to no avail. I've changed settings with no luck. If anyone has an answer, I'd appreciate it.

I have no clue. All I can suggest is you email the webmaster of the boards where you have that difficult.

After several weeks, I finally solved the problem. I got help from someone who'd had the problem previously. It was a problem with the Autofill setting's "Advanced" tab in the Tools menu. Netscape automatically fills in that tab, and I had to delete "subject" in that tab.

Before I solved the problem, I tried to find a contact address for ezboard. It's a waste of time. The site keeps suggesting questions from the FAQ that might help. Some sites make it very difficult to find a contact address, and when you do, many of them send you automatic emails, which are replies sent by a program, based on keywords in your email. I'm pretty sure Amazon.com uses them, because I've gotten emails from them with the exact same text in some paragraphs that I've had in others.

Thanks, anyway. Netscape Problem
