I am wondering if something is wrong with PC lately. When I come to PC I keep getting pop ups of advertizements, or if my speaker is on I get pop up commercials that are just sounds and I have to turn off my speaker.
I notice that the only place that happens to me is when I come to PC. So maybe the admin. needs to check and see if this site has a virus or something. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue? OE |

Open Eyes... we haven't had any other reports like yours. Are you sure it's not your computer? Have you run virus/malware scans to double-check?
Can you be more specific on a page you're experiencing this issue? We can check it out if you can provide us more details. DocJohn

I suspect that you had an update on your computer and it reset your own settings of privacy... and is now allowing the pop up ads which you previously blocked?
I absolutely HATE HATE HATE windows updates... it automatically changes some of my settings... and adds in windows defender and the like which I do NOT use (I use Avast for everything...)  It also changes the settings for my network to communicate with each other (I have to go back in and "allow" such... especially my all-in-one. grrrrr) (I put the updates to manual and now pick and choose when and what windows will update etc.)

Ugh, thanks for the feedback. What you are talking about JD is probably what happened as Windows does automatic updates all the time. Unfortunatley I am not computer savy at all so I will have to see if I can get my daughter over here to help me. As I mentioned it only happens when I am at PC, especially when I am in the middle of "posting" or writing a PM.

Ok.
You can go up into your TOOLS (usually up top where your computer tool bar says File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help And then click options... then click Content and there's a box to click to BLOCK POP UP WINDOWs.. that might help?

If you are logged in, the site shows members no ads (except in one or two forums). So it is highly unlikely these ads are actually coming from us.

I am having the same problem with advertisements Open Eyes. I tried blocking popup windows to find that it was already blocked.
I also play games on Face Book that play ads to cover the cost of the free games. Grrr. Then sometimes while I am playing the games I get a live broadcast of some TV station from the US. Lay TV? I have no idea how to fix this. Apart from just turning off the sound. Any more Ideas please JD. |
