I understand that these two forums say men only and woman only, but can I look at a post in the men's forum if it's relevant to a question of my own if I don't post or is ALL access there denied to the opposite sex? sorry if the answer is obvious and I should know

I have seen people of the opposite gender lurk and post where they should not be. Just a note as a reality check.

I see. Then you probably should not because the rules prohibit it.

You can read anything you want, but if you post in the "wrong" section it will probably be deleted. Sometimes I wish I could post, too, when I have something to add.

It is correct we can't post in the men's forum and they cant post in the women's. however you are allowed to pm the member about a post you might see in either forum.

If there's a post that relates to something I'm experiencing, I look in the women's section...but would never post there. I think it's sometimes healthy for men to get a woman's perspective on certain issues.

Yes, you're welcomed to read either forum no matter your gender. We don't track who reads what, where.
What you cannot do is post in the women's forum if you're a man, or post in the man's forum if you're a woman. Thanks, DocJohn

Whichever forum they identify with as their gender.
However, trans-specific or trans-related issues should not be discussed in either forum, but instead in this forum: http://forums.psychcentral.com/trans...ender-support/

Usually it is body stuff that is discussed, and what could a man physically but woman inside get out of a forum with women? If she has an issue with say prostate or hair loss, that would be odd talking about with other women.
Or if a physically female man talking about her problematic periods with other men.

Not really because if is a mental thing it might belong in the other forum. I assume transgendered people are allowed in both.
But myself I'm staying clear of both to be safe. ![]()

Personally, I post frequently in the Transgender forum. I'm biologically male. But I have lived all of my life knowing that "inside" I felt as though I should be female. As a result, I'm actually not non-binary. I'm toward the end of the male spectrum in terms of my day-to-day living situation. But "inside" I harbor a firm belief that I should have been born with a body that would put me way at the very other end of the spectrum.
I never post in the women-only forum because I'm biologically male. I have put a couple of posts in the men-only forum. But I only feel comfortable posting there if someone creates a Thread which relates to LGBTQ issues in some way or relates to some other aspect of my transgender experience. This does happen occasionally. Otherwise, I would never go there. Still, even with my transsexual nature, I don't know that I could be considered non-binary. In that sense, I'm really very binary. I'm just split between the two ends of the spectrum. However, for those who are truly non-binary, "non-binary" is an equally valid gender along with "female" & "male". It deserves its own protected forum, to the same extent that it is provided to females & males. And if such a non-binary-only forum is created, I won't post there because I don't consider myself to be non-binary. I'll continue to post in the Transgender Forum. |

Sometimes when I just pull up like "new posts" I don't really pay attention to what forum they are in......I have been caught posting in the wrong forum because I posted before I realized what forum I was posting in & had a reply that seemed appropriate :embarrassed:......was embarrassed to find out that I had posted in a forum that I wasn't supposed to post in.....there is nothing that blocks us from posting there as we are not blocked from making posts.....so it's important to be aware of what forum we are in when we choose to post.
Sometimes oops's happen without realizing it until later when we find we posted in the wrong forum when we get a ...."we deleted your post". After getting caught with that happening a couple of times....I have learned to be more aware now......but it is up to us to have that awareness because there is nothing that actually stops the posting of the opposite sex from posting in there. Have to admit, it's interesting to see the opinions that are posted there at times.....only some do attract my attention in the first place for reading & that was how I got caught accidentally posting without realizing what forum it was in.
