I've noticed that some new users who post threads do not get any replies, presumably because of the restrictions that apply to new users. When new users have to wait for their posts to get approved, sometimes a thread (or post) will go unnoticed because it ends up way behind all the other threads by the time it is approved.

This makes me very sad, and I hope you can fix it. Thank you.

On the top task bar there is a hyperlink to "new posts". This lists all new posts and the community liaisons do go through them regularly

Would love to fix it, but there's no way to do so since forums like ours attracts dozens of spammers every day. You see none of them due to a combination of filters, moderator actions, and a set of rules that prevent new members' posts from appearing until reviewed by a human.

Thank you for pointing this out, I didn't know about it!

However, I still think it would be better if newly approved threads and possibly also posts showed up on the top of the forum / at the end of the thread. This would make them more visible and I'm sure, would give these new people some replies sooner. I went through the first pages of the bipolar forum now and saw many threads, a couple of them by new people, that hadn't been answered in days. If I were a new person and had taken the time to write one of these threads, I would be sad that no one had replied. And I might not have known the reason why no one replied, and assumed it was because my thread was not interesting.

DocJohn
What I'm proposing is not that you remove any of these counter-measures for spam, it is simply that you bump newly approved posts and threads to the top / end. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I hope that this is possible to fix.

We don't have a technical method for "bumping" a newly approved thread unfortunately, sorry.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
