Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.

What I want to know is when it says Live Chat Now - it takes me to a main room and no one seems to be there -but even worse than that is when I click on "who's in chat" I see what appear to be personal or oddly named rooms with people in them. How do you get into those rooms?

Chats are run by other members of the site, sometimes they cannot run the chat and announcement will be placed in Chat Annoucements thread. Sometimes an announcement is not made, it all depends on what is going on with the person who is running the chat.

transientsoul: to access the other rooms, there is a "door" like button next to three other buttons. Click on that button and a list of rooms pops up. Choose the room you want and click on it.

I hope this helps.
