So the person who ignored you, for whatever reason, can't pm you and vise versa....nor can they see a reply to your posts even if you reply directly, right?
Then why am I receiving PMs from a member I know has me on their ignore list? Doesn't that completely defeat the purpose? Also, I know they can reply to me if they log out and view the thread, then log back in and compose a reply to the entire thread, but that seams like a lot of work to me not to mention makes no sense. If you have someone on ignore, isn't the whole purpose of it to cease communication to and from said person, thus "ignoring" them completely? Just about the only thing I can't seem to do is being able to reply to their threads they've started. Why would anyone use a feature to prevent me from talking directly to them, but then go around and talk directly to me? It's all very confusing and I seriously don't need more confusion right now. I have plenty on my plate to deal with.

Maybe they are 1) removing the ignore 2) reading your post 3) writing a reply or a pm 4) putting you back on ignore.
I agree, its frustrating to be ignored, especially when its by people you admire! I feel bad that i irritate people that i like. BUT - the powers that be say its not about the ignored, its about the ignorers. It feels bad to be left out of an interesting discussion sometimes - you wonder if other people arent asking, why isnt SHE responding? So in that way, yeah it does feel punitive. And it would be kinda obvious to start your own thread on the same subject when youre the ONLY person who wasnt in on the first discussion. Then again. Some people - like me, apparently - just dont know when to stop. If people remove their ignores, we think we're friends again. But that is not the case. The other person thinks, by now maybe theyve gotten the hint. They would probably write you a friendly note if they really wanted to stop ignoring you. Eta - bottom line is, do you have a pm you cant read because youre being ignored? THAT would tick me off!!. |

Yeah. I respect that this person needs to ignore me for self care reasons. I just wonder why they go out of their way respond and talk to me if they had me on ignore in the first place. Maybe I am just to popular to stay away from.

Personally, I don't see the purpose of having someone on ignore, then send them a PM. |

Me either Liz, but then again I don't get many things other people do on the whole anyways.

Okay, there seems to be some misunderstanding here...maybe I can help clear it up.
1. I ignore you. Means, you cannot pm me or post in any of my threads. I cannot see any of your posts, just the markers stating you made a thread or post. 2. You ignore me. Means I cannot pm you or post in your threads. You will not be able to see any of my posts or threads, just the markers stating I made a thread or post. This is not a perfect situation. Unfortunately our program only goes so far. |

Thanks Sabby. I guess I am overall confounded by people and their actions I guess. This may be why I don't get people for the most part.

Yeah, I get it Artchic, it is sometimes hard to understand folks, IRL and on a forum.
What helps me is to try to realize that there is always more to a story/person than what is posted about or how they behave. We don't really know them so there could be and usually are a myriad of reasons why folks do what they do. ![]() |

I have found that many members here change their ignore-don't ignore minds, often according to what they read in a post. And I have found that some fail to wait long enough on a response to a PM ...and change their minds again?

I guess it's one of those things that we need to recognize for what it is. The ignore feature is an imperfect fix and yet it does have it's positives as well. It's kind of like people, people are imperfect too.
Maybe it's time for us to be more concerned over the things in our lives that we can control rather than what or who we can't control. On that note, this thread will now be closed before it becomes unsupportive. |
