I've seen that option on other forums. I'm finding a triggering theme.

You can place someone on your ignore list however you will still be able to read their posts when another member quotes them and you will see thread titles that they post.

I'm going to be really and horribly rude here; but, in the same vein, I'm wondering if threads can be better screened. While obviously they are in order to remove negative, hurtful, and inappropriate threads and posts, I am frustrated by the inappropriately trivial posts that appear - especially when the forum is blanketed with such trivial and off-topic threads by a few individuals. As people get 'talked to' by the moderators and forum leaders for being rude and harsh, so too should they be for other inappropriate posts and threads. This has - very recently - gotten so irritating that I have become reluctant to open up the website.

I wonder too about what "trivial" means, I think it's mostly in the perception of the beholder. I think many learn to skip over posts that they don't find of particular "interest" after some time here. Especially if they don't have as much time available as they would like. I'm not sure how a community like this could be policed for "trivial" content (or if the volunteer moderators would have enough time to do so..)

We always tell members to do their best self care when they are here. This means that it's the members' responsibility to do that care, decide what is important to them and what is not. If something seems trivial to you, then move on to the next thread or forum. As mentioned before, you can use the ignore function to help you if need be. While we cannot be the trivial police, if you think that a thread/post is against our Community Guidelines, please feel free to report it with your thoughts as to why it's against guidelines and the team will be happy to look into the situation. I'm sorry that you are struggling with this issue and I hope you can find the best way for you to work through it. If you have any questions or are looking for suggestions, you can always pm a team member and we'll do our best to assist you. Take care! |

Hmm. Yes, what is trivial? I love the threads that are like little mindfulness practices such as "What are you doing right now?" and "What are you eating right now?"
I am now afraid I might be guilty of trivial posting. Anna, I love it when you post.

Gotta agree, who decides what's "trivial?" What's trivial to me might be extremely serious to someone else.
A suggestion if you find what you consider a post that inappropriate to a forum, help out the mods by reporting it. Something else to consider, if an individual is flooding a particular forum with posts it might be an indication of their state of mind. Could be that they need to post in order to get things out or make a connection with others. |

Well, I am posting ridiculous amounts but I also am sort of coming out of a crisis which brought me on PC a few weeks ago. I doubt I will be posting this much in the future. But PC has really helped me to start to settle, and I am so grateful. But maybe I am posting too much? Apologies.

I can only think of one member who has posted things that may seem a bit trivial at first, but then I realized this person may have other issues going on as a pattern to their posts has emerged. Should this person be censored because they perhaps can't talk about a deeper issue and resorts to posting what may be a lesser issue in order to be heard or get help? I don't think so. I honestly don't see "trivial" posts as an issue. If you don't enjoy posts from a certain person, just block them instead of letting it upset you. Then maybe you'll enjoy the forum more? Just a thought.
