Sometimes I can right click on the box and select show picture ......poof, there it is.
However sometimes that doesn't work. How can or Can I work around those boxes.
I love seeing everyones graphics, pics, video clips. They are great fun to see.

sometimes it's caused by the link not working with somebody's picture not being accessible any longer if it's been removed etc.

Sometimes it is the memory, as well...it could be you have too many files open, or your computer is not loading it fast enough to bring up the pictures, or you may have dial-up (like me) which makes it incredibly slow, and since the text loads a lot faster, it sometimes will "sacrifice" the picture for the text...

Yeah, that would basically be all I could think of is that you may have too many things open at once, which takes away from your memory, and doesnt allow the pictures to be brought up as quick as you would want.

Also, if your internet connection is a dial-up, instead of a faster connection, the pictures may not load quickly or at all, depending on the speed of your computer or how many files you have open.

Hope this helps...

Hi there,

I am going to assume that you are using internet explorer. Here is some info that may help you taken from the microsoft website:

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true:
• The Web page includes an image type that is not supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer or by Windows Internet Explorer.
• The Show Pictures check box is not selected on the Advanced tab of the Internet Options dialog box, or the Toggle Images.exe Web accessory was used to disable images in Internet Explorer.
• The image is displayed based on a script, ActiveX control, cookie, Java applet, or HTTP referral information, and your computer or network is configured to block one or more of these features. For example, you may have Internet Explorer or Symantec Corporation's Norton Internet Security (NIS) or Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) 2002 configured to block one or more of these features.
• Internet Explorer cannot determine the character set (also called code page or encoding) that is used by the Web page, or a file or registry key required to display the Web page with the appropriate character set may be missing or damaged. By default, Internet Explorer uses the character set that is specified in the HTTP content type that is returned by the server, the character set specified by the meta element in the Web page document, or your Encoding preference if no HTTP content type is returned by the server and no meta element is specified in the Web page document.

If that is too much for you to swallow technically, heres an easier run down.

Red x's in pictures usually mean that for some reason your computer was not able to connect to that picture. This could be a number of things. The site hosting the picture may have timed out (taken too long to respond), The link for the picture may no longer be any good (for example, if you were hosting a pic on.. oh say psychcentral but then you moved it on another site- the link would no longer be right so the computer would be trying to access it from the old address), and also it could be that somehow the picture wherever its hosted has gotten corrupted, or gone bad.

Hope that helps a little anyways.

Thanks so much for the information and yes I use internet explorer.

Some of the things you mentioned I have checked before but a lot of new (to me) information. I've printed your post so I can check further.

Appreciate you taking your time to reply.
