When you were at school, did you carry a lunch box? If so, was it a theme box?

I was at boarding school for the bulk of my school career which meant no lunch boxes but queues for a stale brown bread sandwhich. Before that I used to get my sandwhich wrapped in cling film. I will never forget being the victim of a bully when I was just little and having my sandwhich squished beyond redemption. Sigh!

My step daughter has a gazillion Bratz (ugh!) and various Princess-type lunch boxes ... (NOT my doing!)

I would love to treat my son to a superhero lunch box but being almost 10 years old, he finds it embarrassing So he has plain tupperware.

Any memories to share?

Oh my, yes -- picking out my lunchbox was the best part of back to school shopping!!! Way better than getting new clothes. Lunch Boxes

I was a Peanuts freak, so I often had Peanuts ones. I believe I may have had a Barbie one. One year I had Land of the Lost (a cheesy '70s kids Saturday morning show).

I remember getting lemon-lime Hawaiian Punch or Koolaid or something in my thermos and everybody gagging at the antifreeze-green color (this was before Mountain Dew Lunch Boxes).

Fun memories! Thank you! Lunch Boxes

I remmber having a pink puffy plastic lunch box at one time, but I don't remember what the picture on the front was, ballerinas maybe? I still have my Flintstones lunch box. I don't know when I carried it. Maybe third grade? I also don't know why I kept it, but it is in the basement with the rest of my saved junk.
I always packed a lunch. I was scared to death to buy. afraid I woul do or say the wrong thing. My parents thougfht lunchmeat was the healthier food so I had a lebonon bologna and cheese sandwich every day for nearly 13 years! On friday I was allowed to have a cream cheese and Jelly or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I opted for cream cheese most of the time. In high school I either ate 4 cubes of happy cow cheese or a cup of canned chocolate pudding. No wonder I was so skinny!
I remember having a hard time not breaking my thermos all the time. This was back when thermos bottles were glass. I would drop the box and crash! Also I had a hard time puting the lid back on correctly and the mean kindergarten teacher would follow me all the way back to my first grade classroom and yell at me. I was so timid I would hide in the cloak room. My brother would come to my rescue and clean up the drips. Man, She was a mean old woman! Mrs Beaver! Nasty old coot!

Oh, yes I hadn't even thought of thermos flasks. I didn't use them at school but I have broken many glass one's at home.

Thank you both for sharing!

I loved buying new lunch boxes! I had many metal ones, but also I'm pretty sure I had at least one of those puffy plastic ones, which were so nice. I loved Scooby-Doo, and had at least one with Da Scoob on it, LOL! I might have had The Archies, too, I think.

I remember one time, I guess I didn't put the thermos cap back on properly, and I found spilled orange juice inside my lunchbox--yuck!

Oh no, I would NEVER have let my mother pick out my lunchbox!! The sole purpose in going along on back to school shopping trips was to pick out the notebooks and the lunchbox!! Those were the only two areas she couldn't embarrass me in. Lunch Boxes

Lol - I guess that is why I asked my son first if he would like such and such lunchbox. (The last one I wanted to get for him was Power Rangers or Ninja Turtles or something like that), needless to say, his horrified look gave me my answer!

He loves being treated, but not with something his friends are going to tease him about. Smart kid!

My favorite one was a Pinky & the Brain lunchbox, of the poofy variety. I loooooved that cartoon! Apparently I did a rather silly impression of Pinky when I was a kid... occasionally at family gatherings, someone will still ask me to "do the pinky voice".... mildly embarassing, heh. Lunch Boxes

On a sidenote... so glad to hear I'm not the only one who was afraid of the lunch line! Guess my social anxiety goes back a long way. Seriously, it terrified me... didn't get over that till my senior year in HS...!

Pinky & the Brain had a lunch box? How cool - now there is something my son WOULD have gone for!

The one thing that I have noticed with the theme products is that there always seems to be more variety for girls than boys (in my stores at any rate).

Girls have Bratz, Barbie, Princess, Snow White and so on yet boys are limited to Spiderman and Power Rangers. (BatMan seems to be a thing of the past). Or neutral themes such as Shrek, Cars etc.

I still hate standing in line to buy food and will go to the drive up window rather than stand inside for fast food! I am sooo overwhelmed by all the words on the menu on the wall, besides it is really hard to keep my head up that high to see out of the bottom of my bifocals!

I LOVE pinky and the brain! "Pinky,Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Yes, Brain, but where are we going to get rubber pants that large?" LOL

I love Pinky and the Brain too, but was decades past lunchbox age when it was on, LOL. Also loved Animaniacs.

Just wanted to say it is good to know I am not the only one who was terrified of the lunch line! I didn't buy a hot lunch till 9th grade because I was so afraid of the line, and the ONE time I decided to give it a try, everybody made fun of me for not knowing what to do, so I never did it again! I let my dad make my lunches the rest of the way through. Lunch Boxes

I had a dreadful lunchbox. I wanted a pretty pink plastic one with barbies - but my dad said it wouldn't last so he bought me a black metal lunch box like the kind construction workers use. He was right it lasted forever as did my embarrassment. LOL

Dads don't always understand girls...*Sigh!* Lunch Boxes

I was in a Borders a few weeks ago, and I saw a father with his young daughter in the DVD section, trying to pick something out for her. Finally, the dad picks up one and says, "How about this one? It looks good." She pouted, "That's for BOYS!!!" LOL! Lunch Boxes He said, "Oh. Sorry." He was so cute!
