If you're accepting feedback, I have a suggestion: Could the moderators explain why a thread is closed or deleted when they do so? Generally, unless the OP asked that the thread be closed or deleted, the final post in the thread is something like "this thread is being closed for administrative review" and unless I missed it, there's never an update on said administrative review.
Sometimes it is obvious why a thread is closed or deleted, but other times it isn't. |

Yes, I agree, we should be doing that more regularly and I apologize that has not reliably been the case in the past.
From now on, we will make a more concerted effort to explain exactly why a thread is being closed. The general answer is always because it is violating one or more of the community guidelines, but we feel that there is still value in the posts that weren't in violation of the community guidelines to leave it in place. But we will try and post more specific answers as well when we close threads in the future. Thanks for the suggestion.

Doc John, thanks for this. I understand that threads have to be closed for review. It gives mods/admin a chance to discuss the topic. It sure would be helpful to know why a thread was closed though.

The reason I bring it up is that it's sometimes the cause of hard feelings because no one knows why it was closed.
