Where would a post "move" to on PC that doesn't allow me to access it on the PC forums?

I'm referring to a post by a member that displayed as "moved" next to it but when I clicked on it I got this message:

Crazy Hitch, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I got a similar message under the same circumstances. Used to be if you clicked on the title of the moved thread you get taken to the new location. I wonder if the thread was deleted instead of moved?

When a member's post has been moved, it may have been RE-moved for any number of reasons (not always bad reasons!). When this happens, you do not have access to where it RE-moved to.

I think that if you happen to be viewing a thread at the same time a Team member is in the process of RE-moving the post and your page has not been refreshed, this is when things like this happen.

thanks I was wondering the same thing when I recently clicked on most likely the same post as the others. suggestion maybe when this Re-moved happens it can say something different like Deleted. that way posters dont keep clicking on Re-moved threads expecting to be taken to that Re-moved thread.

Thanks sabby, your explanation makes perfect sense.

Amanda, I was just about to comment on the "wording" used that is currently displayed when we try view a re-moved thread. I felt intimidated when I saw I may be trying to access moderator features or that my account may have been disabled *paranoid* and felt like I had done something wrong.

The post in particular that I was referencing has been displaying the same message when I wanted to read it for a few days now, and my browser was definitely refreshed in this period.

If a post was re-moved. Why not just delete it?[ Or possibly have the pop-up message say something like "this post was removed."/COLOR]

Because I assume posts are not deleted per se, but moved to an invisible part of the forum. That is how I do it on my forum anyway. That way staff can have a look at a thread to see if it could be scrubbed down and put back in public or if it should stay gone.

1. Technically, we don't delete most things on the forums immediately, in case a person changes their mind or it's something that the entire team should review. So it is moved to an administrative area on the website that members don't have access to.

2. I'd love to change the error message, but sadly they used the same error message for about a dozen different possible actions that are all basically, "you don't have privileges to access this page you're trying to get to." We'll see if we can't temper it a bit regardless. Sorry about that.
