When something is reported to a mod, all I or anyone on here ever hears is "We're looking into it" and nothing more. If we're lucky, we get a follow up PM once the matter is resolved, but only if suspensions or something like that are involved.

It would very much benefit the site, I think, if the mods and admins were more proactive with their reports than "we're looking into it". It's very frustrating as a member to not know what's going on and if anything was ever done. It's also very negligible for the mods and admins to do this.

Other sites I've been to always involve the reporter in the process. They at least give regular updates. I don't understand why it's so difficult for this site to do this.

You do realize that aside from DocJohn, everyone here is a volunteer who helps on PC in their free time, while also dealing with their mental health, to try to contribute something to the community right?

Perhaps if you see so many problems here on PC, you could volunteer to contribute your unique expertise and viewpoints and create an even better community here at PC. I'm sure the admin/moderation team here would love your input.
Thanks for this!

I think it's important to remember that the site moderators are all volunteers - they are not paid for this. Ideally we'd hear updates about issues we bring to them, but they deal with a lot as it is and that would just add more to their plate. Would I like updates on what was done regarding issues I've brought forth? Sure. Do I expect it? Absolutely not.

Well, I haven't heard anything but the standard blanket statement of "We're looking into this." on a current issue. I sent a PM to address this just now, and I expect more personalized and detailed information.

I don't have an opinion on this subject one way or the other, but I do want to point out that 'volunteer' doesn't mean 'less than.' I volunteer in several capacities and treat my volunteer work just as I would were I being paid.

The Community Support Team also has to follow the Community Guidelines just like all members do. We also have our own set of guidelines that pertain strictly to the Team members.

We keep things private. In every single action taken or not taken, we do not report back to a member what we have done or not done. We may on occasion let a member know that the Team has dealt with the situation but that's as far as we will go with it. It is not supportive to be telling members what actions, if any, we take with other members. If we did that, we would be going against the Community Guidelines and our own set of them.

Consider this, would you want a member who reported you for something to know if the Team took a specific action against you? That, to me, would be embarrassing and unsupportive. I don't think you would appreciate it any more than I would.

While I can definitely understand when members feel they need to know what is being done, it's not that we don't tell you because we are being mean, we do not tell you because it's private between the member and the Team.
Thanks for this!

Okay, I understand that. Thanks. I guess I just want a quicker resolution to a problem I'm having.

I think also it takes time because of volunteer schedules and that I doubt very much any ONE moderator can make a complete decision, but must enjoin others in any final decision...and they might not be available that day or two.

Of course anything that is obviously against guidelines (such as posting to do something illegal in life) any one mod can probably remove it, the same for real spam... to protect the rest of the community. But even for that, actions taken probably have to have a concensus.

It's all our jobs to report what we think is against guidelines, but then that's our part of the volunteering. The next part is to leave it in the mods/admin hands to decide. Rest assured any reported post is listed up front for all mods to see and are not ignored.

The "we're looking into it" means it's been noticed on the report list and someone is checking it and it's being reviewed... in the queue.

Well, at least that's the way it is on another board where I mod.

Artchic, I'm sorry that the resolution doesn't happen fast enough for you, I totally get how you are feeling. Sometimes even instant gratification can't come fast enough!

(JD) was right though, sometimes it takes the Team a few days to work through an issue. Hang in there!
