Hello.
I asked about this a couple of weeks ago, was given the link to PM an admin and did so.

I have looked at the FAQ's and it says it's done once a week.

So, what do I do now?

As you know, I used to have another username then deleted it because of embarrassment and paranoia. But I missed this community and came back within a week. I feel like I have made friends here--you are one of the people at PC I count as a friend.

If you have any embarrassment about your postings, deletion of your account does make it so people can't go to your profile and easily find all that you have written (in many forums; for example, depression, it seems like you can only go back so far--what we have written a year ago is not available). They will also delete up to 5 of your postings. Perhaps a deletion of some of your postings could help resolve what makes you want to leave?

Mostly, when I have asked for a post to be deleted and the one time I deleted my account--the administrators acted very quickly for me. I want you around but of course support whatever decision you make. I will always remember your good advice about many things. I was quite depressed last year and mostly posted in the depression forum and you were one of the people who made me understand my depression the best. Your empathy and understanding of depression provided so much comfort.

If you still want to go--perhaps you are asking the wrong administrator. I have had success with many but off the top of my head--FooZe comes to mind. Take care of yourself. Remember, sometimes friends can lift us up from depression. When I am depressed, isolation makes it worse for me. Many people love you here. You have helped many of us. You matter. We support whatever you do but will remember you fondly.

HopingTrying, Do you mean 5 posts at the same time? Because I'm pretty sure I have, over time, asked to have more than 5 posts deleted.

Under FAQ/help its says:

"You can edit your post or delete it for up to 4 hours after posting your entry. After that time, please contact a moderator (by reporting your own post) to have it edited or deleted.

Why do we limit your time to edit or delete a post? We have found that, in the past, some people were using this feature to "change history" in a thread, which resulted in confusion and member upset.

We will only delete up to a maximum of five (5) posts or threads for any single member or account. Please do not ask us to remove more than this limit."

So save your requests for the most embarrassing things if you post impulsively.

Starrysky--they may not be tracking this carefully and perhaps the written rule is just to discourage us from overusing this over and above service they are providing. This is a guess as to why they allowed more than 5......

I guess just not log in to the forum.

my guess is if people ask for their accounts to be deleted, then keep logging in, it gives the administrators reason to believe that they want to keep their account.

just a thought
Thanks for this!

I appreciate it everyone.

Not sure why the mods need to "believe" something other than what I say though...

taking a guess here it may be because some mental disorders come with a situation where in the heat of the moment someone wants their account deleted and then when they calm down they do not.

another guess is some people have mental disorders where their alters may request the deletion and the others host and other alters do not want the account deleted

another guess may be because some people in the past have posted they wanted their accounts deleted just to see who is going to beg them to stay in other words for the attention factor.

taking time between the request for deletion and the actual deleting Im guessing may be a way to weed out these problems by...

giving those requesting their accounts to be deleted time to calm down work out their problems that may be causing them to want to delete and weed out the ones that are not serious but rather for attention threads. to give those with DID and other disorders that may interfere with having accounts time to make the decision...

so that in the end the ones that really want to get deleted do.

these are just guesses mind you. to find out why its taking so long to get your account deleted you will need to contact the moderators or administrators or owner of the site.

Well, I don't have/want any of those things, amanda.

I PM's admin a week before starting this post. My post about being believed was in answer to shattered sanity's response to my original post.

I simply want to know what I should do now....
Thanks for this!

I have had a previous account of mine deleted in the past. It wasn't done in the week timeframe I expected, but after a couple of reminder PMs it was sorted, so might be worth sending another to see what's going on.

Saying that, I will be sad to see you go, and wish you all the best

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
