<font color="blue">This year the USA changed when it changed to DST (daylight savings time.) It was one week earlier in March, and is four weeks longer than before. This means the date/time stamp on your computer might be off for those 4 weeks (from when DST used toend to November 4th when the USA comes off DST and goes back to Standard time.)

This conversation at PC began in another thread regarding when the tasks are done with the server here, causing slowdowns.

Here is a link to Microsoft's help with time/date change. It provides the download for updating your computer. http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst If you have Vista, or automatic updates, you probably don't need to do this and won't have an issue.

(For those trying to compute the slowdown tasks here:
DocJohn is in the EST. He has noted in the other thread the times of the tasks that slowdown the site. That means that 12:30am EST will be 5:30 am UTC and in the UK. The 2:15 am EST will be 7:15 am UTC and in the UK. The 5:00 am EST will be 10:00 am UTC and in the UK.)

UTC = Universal Time Coordinate it is/used to be called GMT (Greenwich Meantime) and IS "0" hour in the world.
Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours behind the UTC. (EDST, Eastern Daylight Savings Time, is 4 hours behind.)

The United Kingdom (UK) is on British Summer Time (BST)(which is an hour ahead of UTC/GMT)
until: Sunday 28 October 2007 01:00 GMT So you will be off your time change before we will. LOL I always wondered when there was a 6 hour difference!

For those in the USA, the worst that can happen if you don't update, is that for those 4 weeks your calendar/clock will be off.

Hope this helps those of you with questions. (And doesn't create any confusion.)

> Here is a link to Microsoft's help with time/date change.

That won't help for those of us who have Macs. Actually, anyone who has the latest System software (or even the next-to-latest) will have this already built in, so it will happen automatically.

for xp users, If you double click on the time displayed at the bottom right of the page it will bring up a calendar , 3 pages are available, chose time zone first and set it to your correct geographical location, then chose internet time, click the box for automatic update and then click update now, now you will never have to worry about the daylight savings times confusion again.

Sky maybe you can help me figure something out with the time change thing.

We don't change in Arizona. So I do my recovery chat on Tuesdays at 7pm my time. But I don't know if that will now conflict with DocJohn's chat? And I don't know if it will be earlier or later for the chatters whos time changes? Since I've never changed the time, this makes no sense to me!! Help!!

Not til next week New Time for Time Change in USA Nov 4th

What I learned in posting this, and in IRL discussions, is that the "patch" for this which was used before the March change did not work. So there are plenty of ppl who still don't have their clocks set to automatically adjust. New Time for Time Change in USA

Ray:

"From that first Sunday in November through the second Sunday in March we are one hour ahead of those states on Pacific Time, like California and Nevada; one hour behind states in the Central Time zone, such as Texas and Illinois; and only two hours behind those states on Eastern Time, such as New York and Florida." From: http://phoenix.about.com/cs/weather/qt/timezone.htm

So, your time changes relative to DocJohn's because his time changes, not because your time changes, LOL!

When you get lost, just ask the Government, they're here to help you and will know what time it is where: http://www.time.gov/

I know but.....I still don't know if my chat at 7 my time will interfere with his on Tuesdays. So right now his chat starts an hour before mine. So his time is moving up....so does that mean his chat will start at 7 my time now? Or is he moving back?

DocJohn's chats have always stayed the same "hour" regardless of EDST or EST: 9 pm. I guess you'll have to ask him for sure though. New Time for Time Change in USA

Before I just looked up local time for Boston. So after the time change I''ll do that and it'll answer my question. Duh is me for not thinking of that before. I'm not in my right mind lately.

Thanks. New Time for Time Change in USA

His time can never be the same as yours because you are always earlier; you can't ever get those mountains to the East Coast :-) But now he's going back to 2 hours before yours instead of only 1, the daylight savings reminder ditty is, "fall back and spring forward". When it's 7 in Boston, it will only be 5 in Tucson. When it is 7 in Tucson, it will be 9 in Boston.

Right. So if its 7 in AZ when its 9 in Boston, the two chats will clash.

Right. DocJohn has his own time zone.

Right.....why do I like saying that? New Time for Time Change in USA

Wait. (that's My word lol) I can see why it's confusing. New Time for Time Change in USA Something doesn't add up. I'm still trying to figure out why it's 7 pm MST when it's 9 pm EDT! There should be 3 hour's difference right now.

[ur;]http://www.worldtimezone.com/time-usa12.php[/url]

However, your chat is right behind DocJohn's, a one hour difference, right now. DocJohn's chat moves back (our time changes at 2 am, when it then becomes 1 am.) So to you in AZ, yes, it becomes one hour earlier.

You will need to move your chat. New Time for Time Change in USA
