Lately I see that threads about therapy become locked so no one else can respond. Aside from therapy, I have only seen this done on a thread about Muslims in Iran I guess it was. I think the censorship should stop unless absolutely necessary. Yes it’s embarrassing for professionals that therapists cross the line. I think someone should remember how vulnerable people like us should not be put in a position of doing something as stressful as reporting a therapist and how hard it is to start all over with a new t. I think the profession should hand out therapist/ patient guidelines to every patient with clear information about how patients can avoid transference (romantic feelings, thinking the therapist is your buddy, etc) and have helpful therapy (set goals together). Most of the ones I have just sit there. noting is important too,but not to that degree.

A therapist once told me that a certain amount of transference is necessary and good - that it enhances the therapeutic relationship. I don’t think it’s up to the client to avoid or suppress those feelings - they will naturally occur and should be explored. However it IS up to the therapist to keep them within the proper framework and ethical boundaries.

On the last message where the moderator said they closed the thread, or maybe any of the posts in the thread, you can click on the little exclamation point in a triangle and a "Report Post" message will appear. You can then ask why it was closed and a moderator should get back to you, I think. You could also PM the moderators directly.
What I've seen recently is that threads were closed when they got off-topic and into repetitive or unpleasant or personal disagreements. I think that's considered against community guidelines but a moderator could tell you for sure. |

its my understanding that threads and posts are removed or closed permanently for two reasons...... 1. the first is if the original poster (person who started that thread or wrote that post) asks for the thread or post to be removed. there is a limit of how many times this can happen per member. 2. if the thread or posts violates the sites guidelines/ rules and its not possible for editing to happen by the moderating team (example too many posts in a thread that may be violating the guidelines) Sometimes threads are closed temporarily and then reopened doe two reasons.... 1. so that the moderators and administrators can discuss the thread to see whether there is a chance to save that thread or remove it or lock it, depending upon how many posts in the thread are violating the guidelines/ rules, whether the posts that are violating the guidelines/ rules are able to be removed with out interfering with the main conversation / topic of the thread and whether the topic/ main original post in the thread was violating the rules/ guidelines and just wasnt caught when the thread was started due to moderators and administrators not being on when the thread was started. 2. so that the moderating team can remove any posts that are violating the rules/ guidelines with out having the community continuing to post more postings that may continue with the violations of the rules/ guidelines. if you read the threads that are closed the moderating team does explain why a thread is being closed. you will see this explanation in the moderating teams notifying post that they are closing the thread. I have also found pming a moderator when I have a question of why a thread is locked. I dont post asking on the boards because whether a thread is locked or not and why is an administrative issue which is not supposed to be discussed on the boards. my suggestion is if you find a thread of interest that is locked and you dont see an explaining post by the moderators/ administrators as to why the thread was locked, pm a moderator who can privately explain to why they took that administrative / moderating action. |

Threads are removed when they are in clear violation of the community guidelines (such as spam) and offer little in the way of legitimate support (keeping in mind always that we are first and foremost a self-help support community).
Threads are closed when we believe a part of the thread violates the community guidelines (usually due to one or more member reports), but we believe the thread may still offer some guidance or support to the OP. Sometimes we just can't pare down all the unsupportive replies to re-open the thread because there are simply too many of them. Sometimes replies take the thread on an unrelated tangent (thread hijacking), which may also result in the closure of the thread. The answer to, "Why was my thread closed/removed?" is almost always because it violated a community guideline. We endeavor to notify the OP about the reason for a thread's closure via PM. We do not notify every member who posted to such a thread. As a team of volunteers, however, we're not perfect and sometimes we may close a thread and forget to notify the OP. Hope this helps answer the question.
