I got a notice today that I had a new mention. When I clicked on the link to see the mention it says "deleted post." Could someone please explain?

I can't explain it other than to say I presume it means someone "mentioned" you in a post but then deleted the post. This has happened to me multiple times. Personally I find it mildly disturbing.

it has also happened to me.
the mention feature's grown on me now. I used to really hate it (because I associated with things like fb and twitter, and this forum isn't that), but it's a good way to alert a person they are being addressed |

So after the post is deleted, the mention still retains pointers to it and you. But only one of you exists. Which would mean you found a "feature".  Eta - this is basically what skeezyx said. |
