I got a notice today that I had a new mention. When I clicked on the link to see the mention it says "deleted post." Could someone please explain?

I can't explain it other than to say I presume it means someone "mentioned" you in a post but then deleted the post. This has happened to me multiple times. Personally I find it mildly disturbing.

it has also happened to me.
the mention feature's grown on me now. I used to really hate it (because I associated with things like fb and twitter, and this forum isn't that), but it's a good way to alert a person they are being addressed |

But what does the message mean?

What does what message mean?
I would presume what it means is, the delete post process does not check to see if there were any at-mentions attached to the post being deleted. So after the post is deleted, the mention still retains pointers to it and you. But only one of you exists. Which would mean you found a "feature". ![]() Eta - this is basically what skeezyx said. |
