I honestly don't even notice how many hugs or thanks I get, its not something I personally bother with

I use them for others, I just never notice if my own posts get hugged or thanked

Some of us who didn't get them growing up or in real life, these are the only hugs we get, period. If I view a thread I subscribe to, I can't help seeing them because I see not only the latest replies but my posts as well. They are directly underneath, if they are there at all.

I ALSO am generous with hugs.

I also avoid forums where people can vote a post up/down or helpful/not helpful.

Sadly, some people complain if they get hugs and thanks, then complain when they dont get hugs and thanks, so its impossible to "win"

I never ever had a post about me on kudos thread or things like birthday wishes or anything like that. And I’ve been on this forum for a long time and help a lot of people on here, including spending my time researching things to help people. Yet nothing. Ever. It’s just how it is. Others get constant kudos and congrats. Often same people. Repeatedly

So yeah that’s the thing. It’s not what being said it’s who the posters are. I do get some thank you for my posts but it’s usually from people I know on here, friends.

And yes sometimes there would be 5 posters saying same thing and only one would receive accolades but sometimes they just repeated what others already said.

I think it’s just how it is. We have somebody at work receiving regular public kuddos and congrats and constant applauses for exact same thing several of us are doing and it doesn’t get acknowledged in any special fashion. We can never figure it out at work why is it so. So it’s not just Internet forum

Some people get annoyed if someone on their ignore list hugs or thanks their posts. Especially when they know they are on their ignore list.

Well of course if someone knows you have them on ignore, it’s really uncalled for posting hugs on their threads. I’d be annoyed too. I didn’t think we were discussing ignore lists though

Sometimes people don't know that they are on someone's ignored list.

I can see where your coming from with this, but not everyone gives hugs or thanks to someone knowingly being on the person's ignored list.

Thank you. You didn’t have to do it. Like the other poster said we don’t need it if we ask for it. Lol I really don’t need kudos. I was just making an observation that some people receive constant accolades and some never do.

My brother and I were just talking about how our dad made massive group text congratulating some random person on her random accomplishment (not even an accomplishment). But we never even got a card for neither bachelors nor masters degrees. Certainly no group chats were created to congratulate us.

We do just fine without it. Just an observation that it likely stems from growing up

Trust me not everyone is smart. I’ve met plenty of dumb a$$e$ with advanced degrees. Yet plenty of very bright people never went to school. You have more insight into things than many people I know.
