our older computer has brethed its last or we think thats what happened we moved it from one room to another and it wont turn bk on

That's too bad! computer stopped working

Make sure the new outlet you plugged it into is working; I've had that where we had an outlet that didn't work so nothing worked. Get a small lamp and test the outlet or move the computer back to where it was, see it it still works there.

the monitor works, it was trying to power up but stopped again

could you have bumped it while you were moving it ?

try to detect which bit has died, the motherboard or the hard drive, they are easy to replace

I tell this to everyone with tech problems, theres a really great forum for finding out stuff, http://forums.techguy.org/.. they may be able to help you figure out exactly what it is but it does sound like the power supply to me too.

Do you get any beeps when it tries to come on?

a friend is going to build one comp out of two so it will give us another comp untill we manage to buy another new one

we were blessed today as somebody emailed me to offer us a working tower
it wasnt untill we got there we found out it was somebody we knew
so hopefully we will have a second computer online soon
