Tell me again how people who are "Anonymous" can post on Psych Central. When I look at the post its poster is listed as "Anonymous" but others can apparently see who it is, because in replies they refer to her by name...

Hi, Pachyerm. Anonymous?

I think I can help you with that.

When a member asks for their account to be deleted. It deletes their username, and goes back and fills every post/thread in with Anonymous.

The posts remain the same historically, so if they signed their name, or someone referenced their name, it will still show in posts.

If you see "Anonymous" as a username, it's someone who's account has been deleted by request...whether or not they've returned with a new or the same name.

OK, that fits with my observations.

I'm glad you asked. Anonymous?

It can be confusing, or slightly anxiety-inducting, to see "anonymous" posting because it's our understanding that only members can post...which turns out to be factual but unless we ask, may appear differently.

I think this will be the same, though it might not say "anonymous". It might say "deleted user" or something similar.

Don't quote me on it, though. I think that's the way it is, but I'm not certain.
