Once again someone has posted (in Social) as "anonymous" and it was my understanding that that option was only for posting in the technical forum when someone is unable to sign in.

Please, if you have done this, don't.

You have no idea (I'm assuming) how much anxiety caused by this, in those who have disorders regarding paranoia and anxiety etc.

Hopefully, your login issues are solved. If not, you can email the webmaster. TC! (((hugs)))

Sky,

The few anon posts that are showing up are those members who have opted (for one reason or another) to delete their accounts.

I know it can be upsetting to see at times (((((sky)))))

Thanks, hon.

Yep. Why bother deleting an account if they are going to post anyway? Do you mean they post one "last" quick post and then quit PC? "anonymous" I mean, how they can be "online" as anonymous, posting other than in technical? Sigh. I obviously don't get it. lol

I think she means that what you are seeing are the old posts of someone who has asked for their account to be terminated. The posts stay but the name turns to anonymous. I think? "anonymous"

I think that might be what she meant, but what I was referring to was a current - as in "online"- person posting. "anonymous"

Do you mean because you've seen them on the Who's online" screen?

Like how can a Anonymous visitor be in the chat room kinda thing? Or viewing their "My Home" page?

Or, you saw a post pop up by an anonymous poster? (other than Anony)

Maybe you should just send a link off to the techies here, lol. Let me know though, what they say. This stuff is like a puzzle to me and I either have to figure it out, ask someone for the answer, or let it drive me up the wall. "anonymous"

This software isn't perfect... so yeah, it doesn't always get things right about "Anonymous." I honestly don't know exactly how these things are tracked in the software, I believe it is via IP, so since not every person has a unique IP address (they are shared, they change, etc. etc.), it could account for some of these anomalies.

There is no anonymous posting on the forums. Any post you read by "Anonymous" is something that the software sets after an account has been deleted. When an account is deleted, the posts are not automatically deleted (they get set to "Anonymous.").

LOL Clyde.

Ok, let me state it this way... I wasn't viewing the anonymous listing at the bottom of the real who's online window.

I was viewing a post made a few weeks ago... yes, the "name" was anonymous.. HOWEVER it listed that person as "online" as I was viewing the post. That's what I'm talkin' about. "anonymous"

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Well maybe that person who had account deleted resolved their concerns/issues and returned? I think that would be the case if I'm understanding you correctly this time.

There's always the chance that now that the name was available a new member signed up with it. "anonymous"

All of my old postes come up as Anonymous SKy as I deleted once and came back. Another person who deleted is anonymous. We keep her thread alive in hopes she returns. As we care much for Keb.
Hope this helps. No harm meant.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
