so please bear with me.

I've checked on the list of who is online and there are two mods on at this moment. The list say they are looking at the index page. It has said so for a while.

Problems is, I need help from an admin or a mod and I've PMed but no one has responded. Yes! I'm being impatient, but what does one do, when something has triggered you and the person that posted didn't bother to put a trigger icon on their post? It's not only me that I'm worried about. It's many others here on this board.

I understand that mods and admin can't be online all the time, but what I have a problem with, is when they are not at their computer, their name appearing as ON LINE, it gives the impression that one can get the help they need when they need it. Not so! How can this be resolved?

(((((((((( SeptemberMorn ))))))))))))))))

I am sorry that something triggered you, I know it really adds to the stress when you are also concerned for others, so here are some hugs.

((((((((((((( mods & admin ))))))))))))))) for doing your best.

I am puzzled, I think I know what a trigger is but ... what do you mean by putting a trigger icon on a post? Perhaps you better explain this to me first, please? I want to understand. This is the second time it has come up for me now. When you have a moment.

First of all, I'm sorry you were triggered. It's not a fun thing, I know that hon. Now, when there is no immediate response to you from a mod/admin please do the best thing you can do for you and that is to walk away for a few minutes....get out of the thread/forum.....deep breathe.....and know that 99.99999% of the time it is NOT a life and death emergency I know it's hard to do that when triggered.......been there done that......as a member, as a mod, as an admin. It happens...but we have to take care of ourselves in order to get through it.

Now, as to being listed on line and not responding immediately goes......one cannot assume that we are immediately available. There are certain duties that we perform that take us away from the main screen and we do not see a pm notification come in. There are times when we are dealing with another situation and we cannot drop what we are doing right away. Yes, we may even have a telephone call or someone might stop in or something else IRL takes our attention away from the computer for any given amount of time. Unfortunately, this is life hon....

the trigger icon is that thing that looks like a red basketball with a cross on it,

choose this as the icon for any posts you think might trigger others

I'm also sorry you saw something triggering.

But I have to ask members to have realistic expectations of us here, as we're all volunteers and do the best we can but we have never said someone will be available 24/7/365. That's simply impossible, so we do the best we can.

The Who's Online listing can't tell you when someone has stepped away from the computer for 20 minutes, or logged off for the night (without having physically logged out of the site). So while I know looking at it can be frustrating thinking someone should be able to help you immediately, it's not 100% accurate.

Again, sorry for the troubles you experienced.

DocJohn

Thank you Sabby, Bebop, Doc John and everyone else that responded. I truly appareciate it.

A day later and I still have to take some deep breaths and relax to get past it. Methinks it's the responsibility I feel for the members of my group that triggered me so bad. Not just them, but so many others here at PC... and the fact that it appeared on my forum!

This experience has brought some new understanding of how this site is run. It's a good thing to be thoughtful of how the world sees us, isn't it?

Doc and Sabby, if there is a way that I could moderate the forum as well as the group board, I'd be most appreciative if you'd let me know. I know I found my moderation tools on the group board although I couldn't find them again yesterday. LOL I searched and searched on the group forum and I see no way I can do that. If there is no way at the moment, would it be possible to tweak the two group forums to allow us to moderate our own forums? I would be eternally grateful!

I'm sorry that I didn't control my impuses very well yesterday, but I'm learning. Honestly, I tried very hard and managed to not go off like a sky rocket! Honest! And I didn't, not like I used to! Ask Bebop. She called me on the phone.

Thanks again, everyone.

Oops, I think I used it for a message once, not realizing it meant something. Do any of the other icons have an important meaning I should know about?

Hi Claudia,
don't worry about it, we think this is the only one that doesn't have an obvious meaning
it took us over a year after we joined to work out what it meant

Claudia, the trigger icon is a red circle with a black X in it. A trigger is a topic or post that others might find disturbing i.e. "trigger" emotions or old "stuff". Hope this helps.

Glad we could help you. I sure do know how emergent something can feel.

I myself, don't know of what there are for capabilities within this system for you. That would definitely be up to the man himself
