Would it be possible for a mod to put a post or a sticky about being careful what you put in your title? Sometimes the titles are the most triggering thing of the whole post and I think if we could give a gentle reminder about watching your titles. Even a trigger icon doesn't really healp when the trigger is in the title.

I'm not sure if anyone was triggered by the titles of any of my posts...but if they were then sorry. It's really hard to keep track of titles because unlike posts where you can look at it and think that because of _____ it would be triggering to most people so you should put the icon...you don't know the trigger words of every single person here so with a title that is usually just a couple of words or a sentence or something it is harder to tell... at least in my opinion... but like I said before if I bothered anyone I'm sorry.

I understand it's hard but there are certain words that you can pretty much be sure will trigger people and I was just making a general comment that it may be helpful to have a reminder posted about not getting explicit in titles. Never been triggered by one of yours kaika.

I know, it was just one of those "for the record" sort of things just in case I did unintentionally hurt somebody

Just wanna throw this out there again to please be thoughtful in your titles---if it mentions things you would put a trigger icon for in the post, put it there. For some people, if it has an icon, we don't even read the title, skip right over it. If there is no icon, we read the title and decide to read or not read post.

Must be just me though.

I'm sure you aren't the only one

I'm glad you are putting this out there! Otherwise I would have no idea and would not really think about if my titles were triggering or not, and only thinking of the post itself. Now that I know at least one person is concerned I'll try to put some more thought in, even if I didn't trigger anybody before.
Thanks for this!

Speaking for myself, there is no way that I could ever know all the things that triggers others. Some are more obvious than others, the ones I would know not to post. This is a good point but I don't know a solution to it at this time. I guess, if you don't know if the title is triggering, just make your title," Triggering"? Just a thought.
Take care.

For me, if I remember that someone has a trigger about something I'm posting (like recent threads about my mom in her final days) I will change what I would normally put as a title...and maybe put the trigger icon. It depends upon where I'm at with it as to whether I remember to make some beginning statement about what the post is about. (I think that's what the trigger icon IS for, right?)

But I don't always remember, and of course there are a few thousand members here that I have no idea what might trigger them. (Another good reason for members to post so we get to know them?)

I'm replying here because I do think members need to be aware of some things, and reminded too.

Sky, to answer your question, the trigger icon is there for people to use when they know or think that they are writing a post that could possibly be triggering to others.

Cantstop -- Seriously, I read your thread and LOVE that you were assertive and asked for what you need. I'm working on this skill, too, so I may be coming to you for pointers=)

Take care!
