Hi
I was diagnosed with C-PTSD 14 years ago after a physically, emotionally, and sexually abusive marriage. The marriage was only 2 years, but because we have a child together I am constantly re-traumatized and have never had a chance to heal. I have recently begun therapy again and want desperately to move forward with my life and finally begin to heal. I wonder if it's truly possible to overcome PTSD. Just saying hello. Thanks. |

Hello! Welcome! I have suffered from CPTSD my whole life but ignored it until just the last year. I grew up in a war zone (family not an actual war zone). I do think it's possible to overcome, but it takes a lot of hard work. I'm early in the process so I tend to wonder sometime myself.
Have you read any of Pete Walker's books? He is a therapist who has CPTSD and treats clients with CPTSD. He has a lot of information on his website and a couple books on CPTSD. Just Google Pete Walker.
