All these hurricanes and seeing so many people suffer has really been wearing on me, then 9-11 came up. Now I'm going on vacation on the N.C. coast and another hurricane is in the Atlantic ocean. One of my traumas is a near drowning in the ocean. To say the least I'm all out of sorts. Have a bad feeling of doom or that something bad is going to happen, but not so much with the water but a car accident or something. This feeling is so strong I'm making arrangements and notes for someone if I should get killed down there. This is not a good feeling. Plus I over slept and missed my group session this morning and it will be two weeks before I can go to another one, and it will be the last one.

I wish I had some trick or tip to help you feel better and not worry about your upcoming vacation. I just want to let you know that I'm thinking about you.

Are your plans set in stone? Can you change to a more inland vacation spot?

I'm wondering if Katie Morton has a video that would help you sort this out?

I can relate Trace. I think for me, once a "bad" thing has been experienced, in my head it opens up the reality that these things can happen.

I just have to tell myself that I can take reasonable cautions, that I am safe at the moment and acknowledge, that I can't control everything in life. I also try to tell myself that I refuse to let my history, affect me doing things I want to do and that in terms of risk, such bad things are rare.

Grounding techniques can help me sometimes, I think for me it is a battle of my wills and as that previous post said, which Wolf I choose to feed.

Big hugs to you, sorry you missed your group session. You know where we are here on PC.

Acknowledging your feelings and getting them out of your head is a good thing.

August and September are always a bit of a rough ride for me with hurricane season followed by the annual 911 rememberance. I purposely did not watch any of the 911 stuff on TV this year and felt much less stressed.

Hope you have a wonderful vacation and come back safe and sound

Going on vacation and realizing you can survive will be good for you. You need to have experiences where you can see that all is not doom and gloom. Often it's the anticipation anxiety that is the most crippling part of the PTSD challenge.

Is it possible to change your vacation? Did you check to see if you will be in flooded streets? That is a huge trigger for sure. Please check the news so that you have a more realistic view of what is going on there.
