Has anybody here read or used either one of these workbooks:

Coping With Dissociation-Related Trauma?

Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving?

I'm thinking about going through one of them with my t, if she thinks either one of them would help me. At the moment, we are reviewing DBT chapters. I understand the DBT concepts and coping skills. But dissociation seems to take away the benefit of learning DBT coping skills. Once I get triggered and dissociate, I can't seem to think or reason like normal, and can't adequately use the coping skills I learned when I was not in a triggered state.

Because of this, I am wondering if I should be working more on the dissociation problem?

If any of you are familiar with those two workbooks I mentioned, or any others that would be helpful for this issue, please let me know!
Thanks for this!

I bought the book, I think, about a year ago.

I wasn’t in a good place just yet for it to help me.

A part of me reminded me of it because I’m trying to deal with some anger issues. I remembered reading something there.

Sorry!

I’m speaking about the “Coping With Trauma
- Related Dissociation” workbook.

When I went back to it for validation it was there.

I’ve pulled it back out and I’m going to work through it.

The cool thing about this workbook is that the author tells you that you don’t have to feel like you have to work through it in sequence.

I’m like that. I like to have a book for reference and reassurance. I don’t like to feel like I have to have an agenda. I hope that makes sense.

I think you would really like it and get a lot from it.

That’s just me.

I’m going to pull one of these books out too, thanks for sharing

I like the idea of not having to work through the book in sequence.

Hi Peaches100,

I recently joined a Complex PTSD group and one of the books they suggested is called,

"The Complex PTSD workbook: A Mind-Body Approach to Regaining Emotional Control & Becoming Whole"

- Arielle Schwartz (Author)

The workbook is quite good from what I have read. I don't particularly think of it as a workbook, but it is informative and worth a read.

Thanks,
HD7970ghz

I have read that book on Kindle but I now have a therapist and would prefer to comb through it with her if she is agreeable.

My counselor and I looked at a chapter in Coping With Trauma-Related Dissociation tonight.

He is very agreeable to work through the exercises with me.

He is truly awesome!

There is one chapter that is hitting Home with me right now. It’s a chapter on The Phobias of Attachment and Attachment Loss.

That feels to be really loud and real to me where I’m at right now, and I’m wanting to find a book/workbook specifically oriented towards that subject.

If anyone knows of one, I would value the reference. It’s late and I haven’t had a chance to look into it. I just thought I’d put it here.

My t and I have started working through the "Coping with Trauma Related Dissociation" book. We are only in chapter 2, but I think it is really going to help me...much more than doing DBT, EMDR, or anything else we've done.
Thanks for this!
