I have been wondering if complex trauma can be cured , because I am diagnosed with it .

And I don’t know what is the first step to get better,

Thank you for reading

I think it can be managed, but not cured. It can be managed well. I think the changes to the brain are too much to fix, although I know that the brain is plastic, and can change a lot. New neural pathways can be forged so one doesn't react to triggers in the way they have in the past. Avoiding triggers doesn't help, dealing with triggers helps the brain heal. I have heard several people online say they healed from PTSD, but they had never been diagnosed by a professional.

My general view of the very first step is to find time and a safe space - be it at home in a special room or a day a week at least in some form of nature. To be able to function requires rest and calm. We must center ourselves to the best of our abilities to take-on current and future challenges. Wisdom may come, yet emotions often hold the hammer down. The hammer can be anything we allow ourselves to react to - and when we have no true control of that "trigger", at least knowing why we might want to scream at someone or something way beyond OTT, is helpful in knowing why. I hope this made sense. This post is for everyone.

I don't know if it can be cured, but it can be managed.

A cure would mean ending the flashbacks, hyper-vigilance, triggered reactions, etc.

Our brains are so complex and utterly amazing. Scientists and researchers continue to be baffled about the brain and how it works!!! I'm hopeful that some day magic will be discovered to help heal the brain injuries caused by trauma. Some people are just better able to manage their coping abilities than others.
