So tired but can't fall and stay asleep, hate to be dependent on medication so I just lie here.

What to do?

Listen to music, take a bath, keeping calming music or sounds while sleeping, exercise fourish hours before bed (like a walk or something).

I have had serious sleep issues too. I now have some damage to my nervous system, so I cannot take certain meds without problems. I take an amino acid called l-theanine about an hour before bed. It is compared to the effects of certain strong anti anxiety meds that are prescriptions. I think it only lasts about 4 hours, and I take half in the day time if I start to feel anxious.

Does anyone have a cure for being able to fall asleep but then wakes up between 2am-3:30 am every morning? Yes, I tried breathing exercises and mindfulness stuff. I can not get back to sleep. This is making being emotional resilient during the day even harder than it is.

Sometimes, putting on some gentle piano/classical music works for me. Another thing that might be worth hunting down are the 8 hour youtube tracks for help with anxiety/depression - I'm not sure about their ability to directly affect the anxiety/depression, but some are delivered in a really relaxing style/voice that usually helps me drift off again.

Every damn day I am up at 2am.....T said, as I guess he is tired of me complaining about it, that maybe it was time for a sleep study. Really.... I think that is extreme.

A sleep study is a good idea Moxie, you may have sleep apnea and that is why you keep waking up.

I am dependent upon meds to help me to sleep. I have extreme sleep anxiety from trauma. I have tried all types of approaches for 30 + years. I use temazepam.

Many people report finding essential oil diffusers helpful, especially using lavender I their sleeping area at night.

I hope you find some helpful answers.
