After years of having some really intense flashbacks on a regular basis, and periods were I felt anxious every day, I think the PTSD has taken a toll on my body.

My doctor is treating me for "fatigue" but unofficially she says that I have adrenal fatigue. I'm not allowed to do rigorous exercise - only walking and yoga - and I need to try to minimize stress and get plenty of rest. If I even do too rigorous of a yoga routine, I will feel good in the moment but the next day I will feel like I overdid it. I sometimes go to bed as early as 7 pm.

Has anyone else noticed physical health issues that they think are related to the PTSD?

Oh yes...most notably the chronic tension and pain in my neck and shoulders. Cptsd stems from my childhood and I remembered not too long ago that I've had this tension/pain in varying degrees since I was eleven. I remember a friend of the family at the time showing me how to roll my shoulders to help ease them.

Now, my neck and especially my shoulders are stuck in defense mode (muscle armoring). I have to think to relax them, and that doesn't help much. Lately, the chronic tension has given me chronic tension headaches. I want to try massages, and someone gave me an idea for a device for muscle pain to use that may help.

YES!! I often feel like I have been beaten up, the muscles in my arms and across my chest hurt SO BADLY. I can get very ill in my entire digestive tract too. I can also get very physically tired like I had run a literal marathon.

For me,I just know that my internals, (stomach especially) are really screwed up. I'm sure I'll be dealing with those complications in a few years.
All because of a highly dysfunctional family...and a narcissistic one at that.

It's sickening.

I have a chronic pain/fatigue condition which has been diagnosed as fibromyalgia. I don't know much about it as its own diagnosis but I'd be willing to bet that a good portion of my physical and sensory symptoms are related to ongoing, untreated trauma. Can't sleep, have troubled digestive functioning, super sensitive to light, sound, smell, taste, and touch, always having pain and tension in my body, chronic migraines with intense facial pain, etc. I'm just now going through the process of seeking treatment for CPTSD. I have no idea what to expect, but I would hope that any kind of CPTSD treatment would address the whole picture, not just the mental/emotional.

I thought this was interesting. I talked with one of my doctors today about some symptoms I've been having. She told me that the reason is unknown, but patients with PTSD diagnoses are linked with frequent urination issues.

It's interesting because I've had frequent urination issues off and on since I was 15 the which is the year I went to the hospital psych ward for the first time. I've had issues since then and the doctors can't find anything wrong.

That's another way Cptsd has taken a toll on my body. Go figure.

Yes, my symptoms are very somatic in nature. It actually led to developing fibromyalgia for me.
