I hate the feeling that my own problems are what screwed me over. I hope you're able to work through this without blaming yourself too much.

What type of coping skills do you mean? Do you get more emotional than you think you should? Do you make mistakes when you're stressed out?

Nice thing about coping skills- the are deceptively simple and relatively easy to use.
Maybe you could right a list of every single thing that can help you handle situations, feeling depressed, being scared, you name it. Think of it as your "Coping Tool Box". Some things to include could be deep breaths, getting some exercise, doing something you enjoy, coming on PC, reminding yourself that you are safe, holding ice cubes, etc. etc. etc.
Next time you feel overwhelmed, refer to the list. Suddenly you have a whole lot more options that might not automatically come to mind when you are stressed or overwhelmed.
I wish you all the best.

Coping skills are tough, but you can definitely learn them. Do you see a T? I work on them with mine all the time. Sometimes to deal with specific situations, sometimes to deal with specific people...I am way better than I used to be.
You can do it!
