I just wanted your opinion upon the famous assumption that does every problem stem from us wanting and expecting more from others?

It's fine to have reasonable expectations - for example the 'expectation to be treated with respect'. I do agree if we lower our expectations of others, then we won't get disappointed in them if they don't follow through. Of course you don't want to take this to the extreme, where people will walk all over you. It's a healthy balance, but I've found lowering my expectations in certain areas to be very helpful.

Heavens no. I have PLENTY of problems that don't entail expectations from ANYONE. I mean, who do I expect anything from if the pipe in the basement leaks??? LOL

Many do.....and others don't.Some come from expectations of life itself.Problems definantly(<--can't spell lol) arise from circumstance. From the choices that others make which impact us.From our choices,ie. whether we eat right, get exercise, attend to our health, choose to lend acceptance to our short-comings,our attitude, assumptions, interpretations, our health, our psychological formation in youth, genetics, environment, coping skills, ability to regulate or sort our inner dialogue, whether we take action to alter any of the previous...........so much.JMO....

Hello, jiakhan. It took me awhile to realize I am responsible for my own well-being. Others may help me focus on what my problems are but I am responsible for doing what must be done to manage problems by changing, accepting or diminishing how the problems affect my life.
