Heya,

The song that most "speaks" to me atm is "Conversations with my 13 year old Self" by P!nk. I an unable to let the tears out atm, but this song for some reason touches something deep within.

The song that I listen to, to help give me a boost is "Alice" by Avril Lavigne. Very strong lyrics and very inspiring. It's me!!

Does anyone else have songs that "touch" them?

Hi,

I was thinking of the song bit last night as I heard a song which gave me hope... Today I found your post and had to laugh. My song is by pink as well... and it's called bridge of light.
Thanks for this!

Three songs that really inspired me early on in my recovery process are:

Everybody Hurts - REM
Hero - Mariah Carey
Window of Hope - Oleta Adams

They still do 18.5 years later ...

One of my current favorites is PERFECT by PINK ... Love that song ... Simply love it.

I find all of these comforting, powerful, uplifting ...

Thanks for posting this thread!

Sincerely,
BC

I find inspiration by listening to the songs of the Moody Blues. Although "Nights in White Satin" is a classic favorite of mine, "The Voice" has such a powerful upbeat to it that it really motivates my mood whenever I am in the doldrums.

I just put an album together with songs related to mental illnesses! My favorite is 'Mad World' sung by Gary Jules. Very deep.
I like 'Unwell' for an upbeat song.

Thanks for this!

I like some of Cat Stevens songs. I've been listening to those lately. They give me positive images of the world and myself.

Anything by Ani DiFranco when I need feminine empowerment.

Enya/Loreena McKennitt for spiritual empowerment.

"High Hopes" by Frank Sinatra for many, many reasons.

Skyscraper by Demi Lovato and For the love for a Daughter by Demi Lovato

These are really good songs. I can relate to For the love of a Daughter the most.

Lullaby by Nickelback, Hello by Evanescence, Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, Aurora by the Foo Fighters, You're Not Alone by Saosin, Vienna by The Fray.... I could go on forever! But these are some of my favorites, I really connect to music emotionally, so there are many songs I could list. But I love these the most.

What a great post and a fab way to get to know someone as far as I think. Music is truly the worlds easiest way to expression, if I could play a song to someone instead of speak that would make life so simple I think. For me feelings are just to difficult to put into words correctly.

My fave Singer period for expression of feelings is P!nk she just seems to have the right words for every situation. Every song of hers I can see as if its a moment of time from my life.

Other songs that come to mind to perk myself up
"You are Beautiful' Christina Aguilera
"Just the Way You Are" Bruno Mars

Songs that I think explains me and how I feel most days.
"Invisible" Jennifer Hudson
"The Reason" Hoobastank

Great post
Thanks

Pretty much everything by Morrissey and the Smiths. One song that I find to be very moving is November Spawned A Monster. It doesn't remind me of my troubles but of those of others, Morrissey sings about how difficult life is for disabled people living in wheelchairs etc, how prejudiced people are against them and so on. My fav line on that one is "a hostage to kindness and the wheels underneath her".
With regards to inspiring me, I guess that having synesthesia, I get more inspired by what I see and feel rather than lyrics. Like, for example, Drunk With Power by Puscifer makes me feel happy as well as anything like dubstep, industrial, hardhouse etc Benny Benassi's "Cinema"- the Skrillex remix is another good example. Skrillex's sounds seem very soothing to me, though many other people are finding them to be like nails on a blackboard. I find them to be almost catharctic with their sharpness, my whole body and mind are resonating to them.

i just remembered, one song that inspires me is I am still standing by Elton John. Because I am still standing, though the cross on my shoulders feels like it's far too heavy.

It's kind of silly, but whenever I listen to "Princes of the Universe" by Queen, I feel extremely happy and kick-butt.
"Illusion" by VNV Nation touches my heart, though. Even if it doesn't rhyme at all. It is a beautiful song.

generally all good music is like therapy, it talks to you and it allows you to fly away with it, and I generaly like to daydream and drift away so music gives me that
Thanks for this!

@eternaldreamer, that is so true!

It's bouncy danceable darkwave, but I find a lot of songs by The Cruxshadows to be encouraging. Especially "Eye of the Storm."
