Whenever I become the slightest bit tired, I go into a deep funk, even if nothing's wrong. Like, emotion overload. I can't concentrate and I don't want to talk to anyone. I know it's normal for people to be cranky when tired, but this just feels weird. And then, when I finally go to bed, I can't fall asleep and there are racing thoughts.

Does this happen for anyone else?

I frequently have racing thoughts. Many times I turn the tv on, and believe it or not, it helps me go to sleep! I dont know why -- perhaps its cause Im concentrating on just ONE thing instead of a hundred, and my mind suddenly lets go. Who knows. But I'll go to sleep with the TV on. LOL

It always seems like the harder you try to go to sleep the more awake you are. However, when I need to stay awake for some reason, I really need to sleep. I usually have to take some sort of sleeping aid and/or drink some sleeping tea. I feel sorry for you cause I've been there but I think it's different for everybody and I don't know what will make you sleep.
Thanks for this!

There are so many possible reasons for this trouble you're having, I'm not sure that any of my experiences would help you.

Have you talked with your doctor about this? If so, have they tried a prescription medicine (or OTC) to help?

I take a med to help me fall & stay asleep, due to my PTSD. That does help a lot, especially because I was having daily nightmares about the same situation over and over again. Your description doesn't quite sound like what I was experiencing...but only a doctor (or CNP) can make that educated decision.

Best wishes to you!
