so my latest reason for not wanting to die is... " because i can't bear the world to go on without me"

even though i know i really want to die and end this mental pain- that is my latest thought... and it just popped in my head for some reason.

anyone else had this thought

I have had a similar thought before. When I was young and feared death it was often for that reason. I still fear death from time to time, but it was constant as a child and young adult. I'm not sure how to quite put it into words, but it's something like what you would say. For me it was "I can't imagine not being here". A bit different I guess, but the way you said it I could also definitely connect with also. Thanks for posting this.

maybe its not the same but i used to be afraid of dying without having left a mark on this world..i don't mind that everything would move on without me but i was scared that noone noticed my existence/death and consequently that i didn't do anything useful with my life.

Here's a question that could prompt maybe some unconscious thoughts to this issue, inspired by my neuropsych class:

If you could be tested for a disease that robbed your memory about your life and people in it, would you want to know if you were going to get it (would you get tested for it) why or why not?

very good question.. (i may even start it's own thread)

but as for me?

yes, i'd want it- their's nothing in my life that i wish to really remember- same goes for people

starting on a clean slate with no memories would be a nice thought

I can relate. I can't count all the times I've wanted to die, but that thought keeps me here.

Yes I have had that same feeling before. I felt guilty in a weird way after thinking it because it is a selfish thought, but I think it is a natural feeling.
