I recently got a new job, in an absolutely beautiful part of Colorado, and have since moved to that location. I had a major accident when driving there on Monday in the bad weather, but fortunately, I am fine, and my car will be fine in a week and a half. I'm looking for an apartment while I temporarily stay in one of the properties owned by the resort at which I'm now employed. I am enjoying my work and the gorgeous surroundings, and things are coming together out here, but my problem is my mentality. I am so used to having a "loser" mentality, because, for the longest time, nothing has worked out for me. I have either failed, or the best-laid plans have fallen through with disastrous consequences. I personally have a great deal of trouble with the "leap of faith" concept - how can I have faith when everything, EVERYTHING, that I have attempted before has blown up in my face? Not to offend anyone who is religious, but to me, constantly having faith when things constantly fall through is a sign of a lack of common sense. It's an awful feeling, because you have to believe you can do something in order to actually do it, but when you've screwed up so many times before, how can you possibly have faith in yourself? It seems that every time I tell myself that THIS TIME, I will succeed, I simply end up failing again, which only reinforces the negative mentality that seems to have festered in me for way too long. My dad always says, "A mind is a terrible thing," and in my case, it may be true...

So sorry to hear about your horrible car accident and good thing you're physically alright. Car accidents can really be nerve wracking. My advice would be - try to think of past failures as learning experiences. For example when we're learning new, we become better and better.
Try to live in the moment and all you can do is your best. Drink in the beautiful surroundings and love your new job. Even if the worst happens, its okay and you can keep trying. Congratulations on getting this job and all the best to you. ![]()

Congratulations on your new job. Now first thing stop and look at what you did for yourself. Appreciate the fact that you made the decision to make that change. You!
Now take one day at a time and enjoy every moment of it. Don't think so far ahead. Enjoy everyday as a new day and a new adventure. You will have a great experience! Sound like you made the right decision and you should pat yourself on the back for that! (Everyday)

I think Candidog is right. Most people are hesitant towards changes in their life (especially high impacting ones), in the end, most people aren't able to go through with it for fear of the risk and it can hold them back. (i.e the higher the risk, the more hesitant we become.)
But you've taken a big step here and you should be proud of that. Someone who is able to take such an action clearly has inner strength and a will/determination to succeed. I think you're not giving yourself enough credit. Yes 'fate' might have been dealing you a 'bad hand' but perseverance is the key here. And yes things may not turn out exactly as planned but it's important to remember all of the 'good' that has come from the choices we have made. It's not necessarily about 'faith' but rather about positive thinking. Ps. Congratulation on your job. Now live in the present and enjoy the beautiful scenery =P. All the best and good luck ~ Last edited by Daylight003; Apr 21, 2013 at 02:48 AM. |
