I hope it's appropriate for me to post this in here, but this is the only forum I seem to get feedback! I am sitting here with my soon to be ex husband in my living room. When I m ok with myself and have my mind in the right place I can handle spending time with him but right now I CAN'T!!! The flashbacks are unreal so I disassociate and numb out to deal with him!!! I hate it!!!!!

(((winkynjr)))

I can relate. Sometimes we need that emotional barrier there to protect ourselves. In those times, our dissociation is healthy.

Other times, dissociation can be due to a physical illness (so we have tests & medications) ~ treat the illness. Not as easy as it sounds, of course, it is often a difficult time to go through.

Accepting the fact that it's back is the easiest tactic that I've found so far.
