He committed suicide. I'm pretty upset about it and really worried about my friends.

He was dealing with schizophrenia and major depression. I'm not mad at him, but I wish that he could have found help.

I feel a bit guilty. I know its not my fault, but I feel bad because we always talked about how we both struggled with mental health and that we appreciated talking to each other because we "get it". the last time I saw him, I left early with a woman friend because we were having a hard time and wanted to talk to each other because we both "get it". I feel like I ostracized him.

This is the third suicide attempt of someone I know this year. Two people were successful. I have a bi polar disorder, which scares me because I know that a lot of people with it attempt suicide. I'm scared that I will do something like this one day. I've never been suicidal, but it's scary to think that I may one day not be as stable as I am.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure you were there for your friends many times. There is no way you could prevent what happened. Try to stay strong and live the best you can. Share your sorrow with your friends, it helps.

I'm sorry you lost your friend. There is nothing you could have done. I have a friend that has tried to committ suicide so many times this year I've lost count. know matter how hard I've tried to cheer her up and tell that's not the way, it never stops her from trying again. I'm afraid she will one day succede and I will never even know because their is no one to one to call me.

I know you feel helpless right now. You might want check out our Grief and Loss forum. I hope someone there can help you overcome your guilt.

You will not commit suicide. Your BP Label is not a Death sentence. It is just a Label. Also you seem to be more aware, and feel better than those you post about.

You have bipolar (a very uncommon disorder) and your friend has Schizophrenia? (Another rare disorder).

I offer you my sympathies but I hope not every person you know has a major extreme diagnosis.

If you do your best to manage your condition, and LISTEN to your doctor (and stay away from drugs), you probably will be okay.

Best wishes

I am so sorry for your loss. But it's not your job to stop anyone from committing suicide. You have nothing to feel guilty about.
Thanks for this!

i feel sorry for your loss, such a shame, i will pray for you and your friend. My sister committed suicide in 1987 at age 16 i know the feelings you are having, you will grieve first but then after while it will get better, it is not your fault, and i don't believe you will do the same thing either. I used to wonder if i would too as i'm schitzofrenic, but those thoughts have left for now at least.

Thanks so much guys. I guess I just worry because I wonder if the mentally ill can find peace and I place in the world. We get so ostracized. Maybe people will get better at understanding mental illness.

Wide dude, I drink occasionally, and rarely get drunk (anymore). And I don't do drugs

Do you have someone IRL with which to discuss these sad and guilty feelings?

Suicide affects everyone around, and those not close just from hearing about it.
There's always the question of "What could I have done differently?" But in the final analysis, if a person is determined to end their life, they will eventually.

There has been too much in the news about young people completing suicide, and not enough about the accomplishments of those who are working hard at making a life for themselves, and a better community for the rest of us.

Take care of yourself during this fragile time--make sure you share your feelings, like you have here, with those in your life, ok?
